Failure to follow simple instructions, Malarky! ;-) Drop and give JayLew 20!

The command was:

Quote:

no extra placings necessary. Pretend you've got 10k riding on your picks, 1-3.
Then, I'd like to hear your Dream Podium. Who would you like to see there?

Footballmom, I love Hincapie as much as any of them...I've even ridden with (OK, just NEAR his wake) him in the areas just north of Charlotte. He's a gentleman, a warrior, and a workhorse. But, physics won't allow someone that weighs what he weighs get to the top of the mountains as fast as he needs to in order to place so high.

If you were picking a football team out of the tour riders though, he'd be a top pick, for sure! OTH, Hamilton would be one of the last picks...a toothpick!

For the Tour:

Armstrong (if he doesn't finish first, he won't be in the top three)

Hamilton

Ulrich

He just said extra placings are not necessary. The was no ban on giving extra information.

Since I didn't follow the direction perfectly the first time here is my dream podium.

1. Ullrich

2. Tyler

3. Cadel Evans - Although he will need a miracle to even get in the race.

That field bet was a great opportunity at 3:1. I think its weaker now because of Beloki and Vino (which is ironic since the line has gone down to 2:1) but still a decent bet. I never thought (and still don't think) that its more likely than not to come in but 3:1 on the other 158 or however many riders a month out from a three week stage race is a great value. It could just as easily have been Jan who crashed instead of Vino and we could be laying off half our action on Lance at even money and making a killing.

Lance may be the strongest, but can his luck hold out forever? I submit that it cannot.

Lance beats Tyler in photo finish to gain the 6th, but a clear passing of the torch is made.

I LEAVE FRIDAY TO WATCH ALL THIS IN PERSON. IF I CAN GET INTERNET ACCESS I'LL PUT IN SOME LIVE RACE REPORTS, NOT FOR ANY INSIGHT THAT I MAY HAVE, JUST TO RUB IT WHILE YOU ALL ARE BACK AT YOUR DESKS

Strong call on Mayo. i was thinking the same thing even before the Mt. Ventoux TT, but now I wonder about his ability to string together all the tough days at the end of this year's race. Since I don't really have any idea how durable he is, I won't be at all surprised if he does win the whole damn thing.

But...Lance falters on L'Alpe d'Huez and Tyler takes the lead (leading everyone to pronounce, yet again, that Lance is through). Tyler leads by :30-1:00 going into stage 19, Lance rides the time trial of his life and wins it all! Sort of a replay of '89.

Or Lance just blows the whole thing up from the beginning, that would be cool too. :)

Check out the odds sheet at mrbookmaker.com they quote odds on everybody, daily stages and all the jerseys. Pretty cool.

They sponsor a bike team, too...

Good site. I guess its not surprising but the euros do a lot better job handicapping tdf than US books do.

You're right, I didn't read the "dream" part! ;)

My mom was a footballmom, too. Had three boys that played football (one in college), and my father coached football. She still sits in front of the TV yelling, "GET 'EM, GET 'EM, GEETTT 'EMMM". Can you tell I played on the defense?

Wish I would have spent those years racing bikes...oh well!
