Tom D. why'd you switch from Easton to VisionTech?

Tom,

I see that on your Kiwi ride you used an Easton aerobar setup. Just curious why you switched. I know you now swear by FSA's aerobar line.

I switched because I think FSA Visiontech's are better than Easton's. Here's why:
  • Less Expensive.
  • Can be cut to length.
  • Greater adjustability when used as clip-on aerobar/seperate base bar.
  • Much less complex brake lever system.
  • Can be used with any brake lever.


That pretty much does it. The Eastons are very good- the FSA Visontechs are much better. I think they are the best aerobars available along with HED.

For the inside scoop, both these aero bars and a few others were tested in a wind tunnel. The results are available on Kraig Willet's pay site.

I haven't read anything conclusive with positive comments about the Easton bars. In '04 I was contemplating going from Profile to VT (which I did) and based it largely on this correspondence which you may find helpful:
