Tire and wheel acquisiition help
A few months back some one posted a response in thread about an on-line source for tires which was very cost efficient, with a good variety of products. I can’t even begin to remember the thread subject. Anyone have a clue as to the web site address?

Secondly, I need a beater 650c rim to pre-stretch tubulars on, now that I have the new 650c 48 cm P3. I haven’t found a catalogue that offers just rims, although there must be at least one. OTOH, the cheapest solution would be to buy an un-rideable old rim/wheel that some one has laying around in their garage. Anyone out there in Slowtwitchia got what I need? E-mail me at parkito17@earthlink.net.

Thanks,

Parke

You can get 650 velocity deep V rims for $10 at Nashbar but they're clinchers.

Don't know if stretching tubulars on a clincher rim works or not.

Nahsbar used to have 650 pro elite rims (the tubular version) even cheaper but it looks like they sold out. I have a couple in my garage that I probably don't need but shipping rims is kind of more trouble than its worth. I bet some mail order outfit is still selling them cheap. do a search on an internet search engine or qbike.com or bestbikebikebuys.com for "velocity pro elite"

Thanks all. Jaretj - I suppose it would be a good idea to put rim tape on the clincher rim as a little added protection, even though the tubies have a pretty stiff backing?
