For those of you travelling to CdA for IM, I wanted to suggest a few fun activities you might want to take in while visiting our area. 3 come to mind immediately for me, maybe other locals can suggest more.
1. For those getting here a few days early, Lyle Lovett is playing an outdoor concert on Wed 6/25. Tickets go on sale today.Check out http://www.ticketswest.com/...=EGRY01&MP=False for tickets.
2. Silverwood Theme Park is a fun place to go, especially if you have kids, including teenagers. They have everything from screaming fast roller coasters to very tame kiddie rides. For more info, see http://www.silverwoodthemepark.com/. Silverwood is about 15 minutes north of CdA, very easy drive.
3. Something else unique to the area is Hoopfest, the worlds largest 3 on 3 basketball tournament. This is held in downtown Spokane (25 minutes for CdA) and the downtown streets are shut down to traffic and converted to basketball courts. Riverfront Park in downtown is full of courts, but also food vendors and some other entertainment like kiddie rides, a cool old carousel, etc. Hoopfes is fun to see even if you can't dribble a basketball. The teams are bracketed and there is everything from teams of 5 year olds up to professional street ball players. Those who watched the Gonzaga Bulldogs in the NCAA tournament over the years will recognize some of the graduated Bulldogs playing in the elite division.
