First off, thanks for all the nice words from the Slowtwitch crowd. Anyway, if you all have any questions about the race, I'll do my best to answer them.
EDIT: I don't know any power data YET, other than from "in the race" checking of the computer and targets.
Why Tubulars??? I have always seen you as a big proponent of clinchers mostly for technical/advantage reasons and not plain convenience, was I wrong.
BTW congrats for a great all around race, I think there is more success in your future for the progression I have seen, good job.
Peace
You can ride a tubular when it's flat. They generally don't pinch flat and due to the way they are constructed, that means they generally seal up better with sealant. Really, for me, it's the ability to ride it when it's flat that is huge. And the sealant generally working better, since that is the fastest way to get back into the race.
If you glue a tubular properly (according to AFM's gluing method), then they roll just as fast. They may also be *slightly* more aerodynamic because you can make a non-parrallel brake track. But I don't consider that to be a compelling reason.
Gluing tubulars well is a pain. It takes time and planning. "Convenience" is not to be underrated. If I was away from my garage - my workspace - and the bike shop, I would have been much more nervous training on my race wheels. That - to me - is enormous in terms of value.
