The Official 2006 IMAZ bike course thread
Quote | Reply
I thought I would start things here, since it's going to be a BIG talking point the next few months...

Two loops? Three loops? Will the garbage trucks be able to access the landfill? Will the Indian reservations allow the race to go through?

STAY TUNED FOLKS!!!

I think I heard it's four loops with a toe touch down after each loop.

I saw that there is an artical about in the newest triathlete mag that says as the course stands now it will be a 3 looper with no city loop? Why nothing is posted on the IMAZ site is beyond me. Stay tuned......

Kerri,

This is no laughing matter... it is very important.

You and me both know that this thread can be bigger than the Hottie Thread.

I don't want this to turn into another "112 miles is 112 miles" thread but but for folks that don't live there and would like to go preride the course once maybe twice AND paid $400, don't you think you deserve to have an idea of where it's going to be?

hmmmm...I raced last year and I'm racing this year and honestly I don't care. I should also add I hated the three loops, but what the heck can I do about it!? nothing really!

Had to steal the spotlight didn't ya....... Seriously, saw a guy from IM Sunday at Soma and we were talking about IMAZ course and he said that the tribe threatened to stand in the middle of the road with interlocked arms if they were going to go forward with the original course. He said they also told them that if $$ was the issue, they would be willing to pay more to use it. I think we should all stand in the road like that on the way to the casinos!! Of course the little old one arm bandit ladies would probably run us over!!!

I remember some years ago when pima was a major road on the east side and they shut down the east side of the road (since it was on their land) because they were pissed about one thing or another.

4 loops, each loop different, no course markings, final course changes made race morning to be published at awards banquet

Ridiculous. That is why IM should be at Saguaro Lake. Could you imagine how tough that would be? Of course that is reservation as well so it kinda defeats the purpose. How about Lake Pleasant? another tough course.... Hotels would be 15 minutes away. damn. We are stuck in Tempe so we might as well have a go at it!!!!

You are all wrong...it will be 448 laps around the track at Sun Devil Stadium. WTC figured NASCAR is making it big with ovals so why not IM? Brilliant really...Billy & Bubba can sit in the stands with a six pack of bud and watch all the lycra clad hotties crash into each other!

I have met Marc a few times volunteering. Really nice guy. I like Tempe as well but I know a ton of people had a problem with it last year. Great place to have a beer after the race if I could ever finish before they close!!!
