Slowman-tribike specs

Since the tubing specs haven't been released yet, let me ask the question that has bugged me for a long time. Why do manufacturers use the same aero profile tubing for both the down tube AND the seat tube? Assuming that they will both be the same width, shouldn't the seat tube be considerably deeper? If one looks at the down tube as it pierces the air (horizonally to the ground) and takes this cross section, why isn't the near vertical seat tube drawn to this profile?

We don't use the same tube so I can't really answer that part of the question, but as to whether it should be the same shape in the horizontal plane, no. first of all it makes sense for your downtube to be a bit wider (side-to-side) than the seattube, unless you really want the frame to be very flexible or heavy. Second, there are many things going on with the seattube (the rear wheel, the rider's legs near the top of the tube) that are not happening with the downtube (which in turn is influenced by the front wheel).
