Anyone do this with a road shoe like the Carnac Quartz or Nike Poggio and do you have any problems mounting and dismounting with them still on the pedals? I'm in need of some new shoes and haven't found any Tri shoes that fit my foot as well as these.

The Quartzes don't have the all important loop thingee on the heel (or the protective plastic cup to guard against the ineviatble nasty pavement scrapes) which are very important when pulling them on and off while on the bike. The fit of the Quartz, while being really good (I wear them on my long training rides) is too good with all the straps and padding for quickly slipping your foot in or out. Try the Carnac 7's if you like the Carnac fit, I love mine.
I took my bike shoes to the local leather shop--they sewed loops on the heel for $10.75 (counting tax). The main problem I am having is with keeping the straps out of the drivetrain. I plan to velcro or tape the straps down.
