Group (Tom),
I am getting ready for IMLP and thought I would try going with Tri shorts the whole race instead of changing. In my prior 12 IMs I have always changed in both transitions. After reading Tom Ds article, I thought I'd give the Sugoi Tri shorts a tri. Of course wanted to try this set up so I went 4+ hrs ( plus a T run) yesterday in them and a few questions came up:
1. I used a saddle pad for the first time, not only to replace the bike short padding, but also to keep the effective seat height the same (per Peter Reid's recommendations). After the ride the seat pad was soaking wet from sweat, etc. Can I leave it on the bike, or will it rot the Arione? Do I wash it?
2. The Sugoi shorts did fairly well. There was one seam that bugged me a bit (didn't ruin anything) - it was what I would call the furthest back seam that runs down to the back of the crotch. Any tricks here other than to just lube up?
3. Do shorts "break in" or do I just put them away for race day?
4. Do I need to practice more with the seat pad, etc?
Any tips appreciated. let me know if there is anything I missed. Many thanks,
David
