Saving your legs...
My legs are toast. I've been standing in the same place for the past couple of days, which would be bad enough - but I'm also standing in a refrigerated server room so they're getting chilled to boot. Any tips on how to save my legs? I need to run in the evenings!

Where do you work?...sounds like the morgue.

CSI perhaps?

Get one of those massage sticks w/ the rollers. They're great for staying loose.Use it on your lunch breaks, then go for that evening run.

Running tights under your work pants?

I know your pain and hypothermia. I'm only next door to the server room, and when it's 98F in the summer, I wear a coat over a heavy sweater at work. (and then roast if I have to go look at something in another building)

I know your resting HR isn't as low as mine, but I have found (believe it or not) support socks work wonders.

Or you could kick it old skool and go for the flashdance look with leg warmers ;-)

booyeah!

where the waiters and waitresses hang out between shifts.

No seriously, where companies keep their computer servers. It's always frickin cold in there as those machines generate a lot of heat, and they don't like heat.

Well if you're man enough try panty hose under your trousers. Tights show and make the legs ride up. Get some queen size heavy duty panty hose and go to town. ;^)

If you are worried, get black ones and tell anyone who ever notices they are "spider-silk mountaineer leggings" used by some of the toughest men in the world. Which strangely enough is true. Many a man has stood formation in freezing weather with a pair of panty hose under a uniform trouser. Why? Because the trouser leg hangs smooth, it's all about appearances...

As for the shaving, unless you are sasquatch, there's not enough hair on your legs to keep you warm under a pair of pants. Now if you do have enough hair, let me be the first to call you "SIR" and show obeisance.

The legwarmers would be a nice touch, but I'd freeze to death in that torn sweatshirt!

Thanks for the warmth ideas, but the bigger issue is the wear on my legs from standing in the same damn place all day.

Anyone know how to make standing all day a little easier on the legs? I'm already wearing sneakers w/ orthotics in them...

Khai,

Haul your ass out of bed early and run before work. What kind of a soft sleep in training program are you on anyway ???? If you work at 9 run at 7, work at 8 run at 6, work at 7 run at 5, work at 6 run at 4...you get the picture :-)

Khai,

Get a pair of support hose. They provide some compression so that the flood in your veins does not pool in your ankles.
