Saris Phantom 5 Conversion
I have a Saris Phantom 5 bike that no longer works. I have contacted support previously to discuss what it would take to fix it and short of mailing the whole thing back it does not look like it's repairable due to the electronic component being fried. That component can't be replaced by the customer since it has to be synced up with the powertap at their shop. And that bike's heavy so the shipping costs would be pretty ridiculous.

My question is:

Has anyone ever replaced the push-stop button on the Phantom 5 with the tension dial on the Phantom 3? Other than the controlling electronics that's really about the other difference between the two bikes. I could then manually adjust the tension and use it like a studio bike.

Thanks.
