So, LS is predicted at 5th. I am guessing he podiums, but I don't know that he has it in him to win.

IMO, Lange looks like the guy to beat, but I'm going with Gomez...it'd be sweet to see those two in a foot race, side by side, for the last few miles.

I agree. He doesn't have the bike leg yet to put him in 2nd. He'll likely run back up to a high finish, but I think he won't make the podium.

Yeah, but their negative rating on Lionel was based solely on his IMMT performance. If you watched his videos, he did that race "low-carbed" and his results were very sub-par for him and he's since done a 180 on that nutrition method. If they knocked him down a couple of notches just for IMMT, I would put him back up a couple now. Maybe not 1st place, but very likely top 3.

Terrible Tuesday’s Triathlon

Hahaha, this is great! I had commented about an hour or so ago on a different thread about how I would like to see an Iron War moment with Lange and Gomez (before reading this thread). I don't know why, but ever since I heard about the Iron War, I've been a huge fan and can't get enough on hearing about it (I even bought that Mark and Dave bobblehead off of Ebay for an outrageous price). To be fair though, I heard about it in 2016 (when I started "following" the pro side of triathlon and the history). So maybe I'm just not jaded yet. Until then, LONG LIVE IRON WAR!

That was my question too. He will have to catch Gomez after the swim.

As a card-carrying member of the JGN fan club, I would say that at the Ironman distance, right now, yes. Not based on feelings, but on evidence. I think this will change after Kona (or as Australians call it, Koner).

Then you should go over to that site that is taking bets, because if he goes those two times you are proposing, along with his 55 or so minute swim, he will win the race. Show us your ticked stub when you get it, you are going to be very rich... (-;

I think 2:50 is VERY unlikely for him in Kona. He ran 2:58:58 in Zurich. Kona will be a different story. I think if he can be <3:05 there after the bike leg he is sure to put in, he should be very happy with it.

Terrible Tuesday’s Triathlon

No need for anyone to blow up for him to make it to the top three. The swim matters for the podium. He is arguably the best swimmer out of the top five contenders and definitely better than Lange. If he can stay ahead of Lange on the bike it comes down to a footrace between Lange and Javi. He would have to have a mechanical or major nutritional issue to not finish on the podium. I hope he wins it but I think it's 50/50 odds between him and Lange. That being said I am a huge Sebi fan so that would be cool too, but unlikely.

The men's race should be awesome this year...
