Damn, was hoping for a "told you so" there! Ah well, he kind of proved me right - strong enough on the climb to get himself where he needed to be, but went a bit early and didn't have enough gas left to hang on as he might have done on a flatter day.

That will be a big blow to Cav, especially given their history. However he is a true champion, I reckon he will congratulate Griepel for a good win & come back stronger than ever. Where has Tyler Farrar gone?

HTC blew their tactics, and it cost Cav a stage win since he had to go at 300m. Had Martin worked with Gilbert, other teams would've had to chase and they could've at least saved Tejay for an improvised lead-out. Instead Martin came back and they were forced to chase with 3k to go and Cav had to free-lance.

HTC wasnt at the front chasing were they while the break with Martin in it was away?

No, it was BMC, Leopard, and Garmin protecting their GC interests. A bit longer and I imagine you would've seen some Sungard riders helping as well.

So how did they blow the tactics again?
