Running a new sram type 1 on 10spd
It says 11 speed on the new sram 2.1 rival and force mechs, but it says on the sram site it is 10speed compatible.
How does this work? Surely the jumps on the 11spd are slightly smaller?
Anyone run this?
I don't want to create lots of sloppy shifting from running this.

The jumps are defined at the shifter, not the derailleur, so 10 and 11 spd derailleurs are thankfully compatible. Shimano used to do this too until 10 speed.

Ah yes, that makes sense. Thanks!

Yes SRAM road derailleurs all operate with the same actuation ratio. I use 10sp RD's on all my 11sp bikes, because of cost, and I already had the 10sp RD's when I switched over to 11sp. The 11sp FD has slightly better geometry and has no chain rub at all however. With the 2012 Red Yaw 10sp FD on my one bike I do have cross chaining rub in the small/small, that I cannot adjust out. Not a big deal though.

FWIW-
You can run an 11 speed shifter / r. Der on a 10 speed hub by using an 11 speed cassette, removing one cog and adjusting limit screws.

The rear mech has a set cable pull ratio, SRAM uses the same ratio for 10 and 11 Sp. The shifter has the clicks or indexing to match the spaces on the cassette. I have a Rival 1X Crank & RD with a 10 Sp shifter and cassette on my old P2. Just got it set up and took it for the first ride. Shifts normal and there is no crazy chain angle.

What do you think of the mech?
Is it smooth?
I've heard conflicting stories about the clutched mechs

Seemed pretty quiet, but it was blow you off the road windy yesterday 50km/h plus.

Shifting was smooth. Using the 900TT shifter. I will ride that bike a bit more in the next 2 weeks.

The clutch RD is quiet. It's really just the same as any other RD except it doesn't bounced.

There's more noise, at least for me, from narrow-wide front rings. The chain makes a slight "gear noise" with my Force 1 Ring. I suspect it's the chain interaction with the "wide" teeth.

First race on the new set up. Fastest bike split on a slightly rolling loop 3x6.5 km. I never got close to maxing out my gears I could have used an 11-28 cassette but since I only have 11-23, 11-25 & 11-36 I opted for the 11-36.

I'm still in two minds about this, I've been running a seam force long cage mech, it's not got very fine shifting, but the rival clutch mech is so heavy and un aero!!!

I just thought I'd bring this back up to offer my experiences from a recent IM with this setup.

I did IM Maastricht.
Fairly hilly, a few 10% plus climbs.
Lots of cobbles, rough roads, mud etc.

I used a single fibrelyte Carbon chainring, 52 teeth, WITHOUT chain catcher or anything.
SRAM rival clutch rear mech
10 speed cassette with 11-32 ratio.
155mm cranks.

Results?
0 chain drops, not even a whisper.
Perfect shifting and performance.
Never needed any more gears for the steepest climbs, 52x32 was more than enough.
One of the fastest non pro bike splits of the day.

Overall very happy with the performance, I'll be sticking with 1x10!
