Do you attempt to "hide" your head behind your hands, or is your helmet always hitting clean air?

I tilt my bars like you and when I drop my head it is actually behind my hands, never been to wind tunnel but I think I have good speed per watt.

Thanks a lot for your time and congrats on your win.

Keep enjoying all that hair for us bald suckers.

Congrats on the win. Also thanks for the thread.

1- For your 360 FTP, do you use a one hour test or one of the estimated protocols?
2- Do you ever perform a submax (or max) 2 hour test?
3- Where did you store 12 powergels?

Great race, TJ. And a great opportunity to market the Dimond. You should get the full size version of your race photo below and put it on the Dimond Bike homepage!

Hi TJ, congrats on IMMT! Also this Q&A thread is great. makes the world feel small. I have some questions about your helmet.
There is not allot of info available for the Casco Warp online, except from track riders who simply say it is pretty much awesome.
Triathlon is different though, so here goes:

- Does the helmet get hot quickly or does it ventilate well? Do the vents help?
- How was the experience using it in hot climates? Like in los cabos earlier this year?

Thanks!

Daniel.

Hi TJ.

I am doing IM 70.3 Worlds in two weeks in MT. We're doing basically one of the two loops you did for the IM there. I've heard the last 12 or so miles of the loop is pretty brutal as far as the hills in that last out/back after you come back by transition. I've heard from other people to really save some for that section of the course to avoid a bonk.

What basic strategy would you prescribe for the difference sections of the bike course??????? Thanks.

Ben

I wish you were the only one but unfortunately I'm in the same situation.

Just wondering where to from here. Do you have any other A races left? Maybe a certain race in Mt. Tremblant?

Congratulations on your victory! I saw your reply on your weight (162-163 lbs.) How tall are you? Also, What does your key (or favorite) IM bike workout entail?

Good luck in Kona! USA!

TJ, we are now 6 days out from race day. How is your recovery going? Some related questions.

1. How many hour of sleep do you generally get in a week and do you sleep more or less post IM.

2. Do you do anything special with your diet during recovery weeks?

3. How early do you add intensity back on the swim and bike and when do you start running?

Some questions related to running your company:

1. What special challenges do you guys have competing against global giants with massive marketing budgets and offshore manufacturing in Taiwan.

2. What is your vision for Dimond 5 years from now?

3. Will all your bikes use beam technology?

4. Would you expand into the touring market with a different price point frame?

5. If/when the UCI changes rules for the hour record would you like to see your frame under a rider trying to take a crack at Boardman's superman position record?

The Dimond appears it might travel easily. Are the rear dropouts removable? Is the beam easily removable? Do you make a travel case for the frame?

The frame looks small enough to travel without an airline oversize baggage fee, true?

Could a polyurethane vibration dampener fit between the frame and the beam to offer extended frequency absorption?

At the Los Cabos press conference, you and I discussed doing some more wind tunnel and velodrome aero documenting of the frame. Perhaps December?

How important do you feel running cadence is? I had a long slow lope as a teenager, now that I'm beginning to run again as an adult, do you think it would be worth working towards a faster cadence?

I started with a bottle of TYR Endurance Sport for the bike, then had about 1 bottle of water per hour of racing. On the run I drank just water until mile 10 when I switched to coke and water (and RedBull when available). I would take 2 cups (sometimes more) at every aid station.

I would use a gps tracker (and have done it before), but probably wouldn't race with a gopro unless WTC allowed them.

Hi Ben,

A pee break for a pro means you just let it whiz while riding. I did not stop and pull over on the bike. Likewise on the run, when I take pee break on the run, I just let it run out while running.

I do not have any number on this helmet vs any of the new helmets, but I plan on being in the wind tunnel in a few weeks to test some of the latest and greatest helmets. You'll know the results when you see what I ride in Kona. Helmets are very tough because they are very individual, one helmet is not the fastest on everyone.

We designed the Dimond to be the easiest superbike for any mechanic to adjust and fit. The TriRig brakeset was the best option to make this happen. We will most likely introduce an integrated front end for future models, but the original Dimond will always be remembered as having a standard fork mounted brake that is easy to adjust and fit.

No, I am not for real the real starky. The real starky was actually present at Lake Placid. I don't think his identity is secret, but it is certainly not me.
