I have had 2 stings on a ride, but 1 of them was inside my cheek. That sucked.

Never more than one (two times), but once was in a race, which was pretty lame.

Any run that doesn't include pooping in someone's front yard is a win.

One yellowjacket but multiple stings (down the front of the jersey). Does that count or does it have to be individual specimens?
Otherwise, just one per ride usually. Bunches of times though.

I rode through a swarm about a week ago and couldn't believe I didn't get stung. Two years ago I hit a swarm and got it about 10 times or so. Sucks for me, but it was sure death for them!

For me it is STRICTLY iron-distance bad luck. Last year at IMLP one bee got in my top and stung me three times. This past Saturday, at The Canadian iron, I got stung once, same general place (high tummy). Also iron bad luck is dropping the chain - 3 times at LP '04, twice at The Canadian. Hmph.

Pacific Coast Trail Run at Stinson Beach, Marin County.
At the end of a very hilly 30K. Last stretch was a nice, long descent back to the beach. I come around a corner and see a few people standing in the trail. Once I stopped, you could hear the buzzing. At this point, it was single track with no room on either side to get around the nest easily. The only way past was to run right through the swarm. I was lucky that it was a cool morning, so I had on gloves, a hat and a long sleeve shirt. I hit the bees running full speed and it felt like running into barbed wire. When I got to the finish I found out the true extent of the stings, as they had to medivac some people out (it's a remote beach, so ambulances were not practical). Turns out the runners in the 12 and 20K races got it much worse than those of us in the 30K. I only ended up with 8 stings, but some people had many, many more.
Man, did that hurt.

"Sweet. Any pictures of that little escapade?"
This is what a yellow jacket stuck in yopur helmet can do. There were 3 or 4 stings before I could kill it. The swelling grew as the day went on and migrated down the side of my face to my neck. Now a good look when out talking to customers but a good conversation starter.
