For the past few years, I've always parked at the Amusement Park. This year they only want OLY parking there, not HALF athletes. Has anyone taken the shuttle from Timex on Christian Rd? How do you get your bike back to Timex after the race?

When I did the race in 2015, my wife dropped me off at the race site and went back to our hotel. When she came back later she parked at Timex and took the shuttle. After the race we walked back to where she'd parked - maybe a mile or so.

I too am doing the half, but am doing the race morning packet pickup. I'll park at Timex, then can ride my bike to transition. Afterwards I figure I'll walk back with the family (after they arrive).

It's close, Jonathan. And it's a sweet ride-many thanks for parting with it and I hope you find a nice upgrade that passes muster with the misses.

Got my 10 speed 808 Zipp w PT embedded now with a new 11 speed hub/cassette. Still dialing in my fit...
But it's a gorgeous bike and I love it!

I will be getting a Canyon soon! Good luck at Quassy and maybe I'll see you at IMLP 70.3 in Sept!

I rode two loops of the Olympic course yesterday and the map on the website is correct (given the arrows on the ground). So you head west out of Quassy and turn on Tuttle.

They also took out the short but steep climb on Judd Road at ~mile 11 on the old course, which is a bummer since that was always a fun spot. The return back to the park follows the old Half course.

I think I like the old course better because I liked the section on Tranquility Rd, even with the ruts and potholes. But we’ll see, racing on a course is different than training on it.

Excellent! Thanks for that information/recon.

That means we head out and go RIGHT out of the park (and down a few miles), the way of the HIM for years...for the first AND last ~11 miles before taking the cut through roads (Judd Farm/Townline/Kasson) and then come back on 'Hard Hill Road'. No-I'm not kidding, that's what it's called according to the map. (*but we get to go DOWN it :) )

Yes, I 'loved' hitting the ruts and potholes on tranquility-NOT! I did like the winding end part of the road just prior to Middlebury road. That was always fun and fast-plus a double bonus to beathe a bit easier with a downhill finish. Not in the cards for us this year, though.

strava link??

Forecast is holding out now, but with rain on Saturday it is going to be a sauna for most of the day. Be ready folks!

Bib #772 here. Trying not to embarass myself too much in the half. Training would indicate otherwise...

forecast looking better each day now-with rain coming in a bit earlier and pretty much missing us; seems like it'll be the usual Quassy weather-near perfect (except for that sunday in 2016-which was ugly..)

water temp will be perfect also

Give me cool, overcast, and light wind. Usually when I race Quassy it's either freezing cold or the surface of the sun.

Anyone know the exact bike course length this year? When I raced in 2015 I had exactly 56 miles on my Garmin. The 2018 course listed on Best Bike Split is only 54.4 miles and on the REV3 site it lists the bike length as 54.5 miles.

I did the HIM course in 2016 and got exactly 56 miles. I didn't do it last year but I do not think the HIM bike course has changed. (*the run did)

Similar experience except I am not supposed to race haha. I mentioned in another Quassy thread that I was supposed to race, but had surgery a couple months back and so I elected to defer because my training has just been so off since then. I received the email with the bib list and sure enough my name is listed. Totally freaked out and was frantically looking for the confirmation email that I had paid the deferral fee...couldn't find it. Finally I emailed Rev3 at like 9:30 at night and they got back to me in 5 minutes saying that they had mistakenly put my name on the list but I was in fact deferred to next year. I wrote back saying "thanks I thought I was going to end up having to suck it up and race unprepared", they responded with "we can still make that happen" hahahahaha.

Rev3 appears to be extremely mindful of their customers and that type of customer support goes a long way in my book.

It is known to be short this year. You turn earlier to avoid downtown Thomaston and hook up further on 254 cutting out the 1.5 miles.

Looks like it'll be a nice cool day with pretty low humidity - can't ask for much more in early June!

Great weather today but Rev3 really dropped the ball with timing this year. They pushed back awards a couple times before cancelling them all together so they could work out whatever went wrong. First time I've ever had that happen, and Rev3 is usually awesome at getting results posted quickly.

It's been hours since the race and I still don't actually know how people placed. All I know for certain is I still can't swim worth s**t.

Not sure what exactly happened but I do feel cheated out of standing on a podium for the second time ever. Hope they figure that out. Weather was perfect! Those damn hills got bigger from 2 years ago-how do they do that??
I saw Nate had 1AG in the half so props to him!

It happened at Knoxville a few years ago-screwed me out of some bucks...IMHO "Free" is too much to pay for a Rev3 event.

Results are posted on that site, but they still haven't worked out all the issues. A few examples:
- aquabike racers are all mixed in with non-aquabike
- check out racer #1500, the guy had a run of -30.29...? I can't even run 10K in +30.29!
- I have a friend who opted to do only one lap of the half and DQ himself, but his time is listed as legit and he's ranked 1st in his age group
- I know another guy who finished in the top 10, has times for all three legs, no penalties, but is somehow listed as a DNF?

so, I hope that get things worked out.

(also, if racer #1500 reads this I'm not trying to call you out personally, just pointing out some weird/impossible timing)

I’m pretty sure the problem is mostly the aqua bike troubles. It was a bad idea to let them go down to the finish line. I had 2 (aquabike) people ask where they finish? And where to drop their chip?

I thought, uh oh, this may be trouble later...

They should be able to fix it quickly though and I’m still a rev3 fan

I enjoyed the race today (Olympic). Perfect weather. Good thing it wasn't on Saturday, that would have been quite the experience. I too forgot about all those hills. Should have brought the road bike instead :) Props to those who did the half ... humping up Old Woodbury and Highpoint road (twice)!

It was a fun day! I managed to have the fastest bike split using my road bike in the half. Rear shifter broke on my tri bike a few days before the race. Would have been a lot closer to overall win with my tri bike and my Zoot teammate Steve who won. Congrats to him!!!

Congrats!

What watts and w/kg got you the best bike split of the day?

I was flirting with the idea of doing the race this year...

Race seems to go very well yesterday despite all the concerns of having both races on the same day. Parking was a breeze, transition was uneventful, swim was much better than I expected, bike was more difficult than I remember but that's probably because I'm getting old, a few marshals on the course, and the run was the usual.

Didn't stick around for awards as I had to get home and even leaving was a breeze.

Great job in my opinion.
