I am having decompression surgery on the L3 – L4 disk area next week. I have put up with low back and groin nerve pain for the past 8 years and have found out that the disk is now collapsed but I do not want to go with a disk replacement just yet, so this is my first real surgery on the back, starting out small if you call any surgery on the back small.I know I have had a few sleepless nights leading up to this for sure. I have had about a dozen epidurals, 3 stem cell treatments and numerous other pain injections over the past 8 years all to no avail or long term relief.

My question is how long is the typical rehab time from decompression surgery before you can get back to riding and swimming, gym etc.

I have not spoken to the neurosurgeon about this yet. I know walking will be important after a couple of days post surgery, I have really been building my core strength so hopefully that will help. Appreciate any thoughts or inputs, thanks. Cheers LA Rob
