Please allow myself to introduce myself
I am making the jump to iron-distance racing next season and figure that I am going to need some advice throughout the way. I've been lurking on this sight for a while now and have come to the conclusion that most everyone here is obsessed with one of three things:1. Triathlons, 2. Pictures of nice bikes, or 3. Avoiding work(the number of daytime posts is staggering). Anyway, on to my question, what are some of your favorite indoor cycling workouts?

No. You are a sad rodent.

I, on the other hand, am a funky flightless bird.

Actually there is a difference between sad and depressed. I'm very happy with my current state of deprestion.

By the way, Mr 2000, welcome to the board. You can expect more of the previous.

Don't forget our obsession with Tri-babes. Based on the Hottie thread (and my own personal opinion), I would say that should be first and foremost on your list :)

Long live the Hottie thread!!!

JTG2000 you have come out of the shadows where you spied and did naughty things to the sunshine of Dan's love and wisdom. Here we argue, love, think, fuck off and buy Tibbs stuff.

Post often and many times and always. Content must not be thought about. Dan loves those who just spout shit off so spout away and group hug when possible.

You will receive you Slowtwitch trucker cap and learn the ancient handshake of Dan on your 1,000,000th posting.

Love, peace, hair grease.

You most likely need to know if a 650c bike if faster than a 700c bike. I know the answer.....

"....cause what's troubling you, is the nature of my game."

Which would be a cool reference and a play on your Subject line if you had actually said: "Please allow me to introduce myself..." , which of course is the opening line of Sympathy for the Devil by the Stones.

BUT...

I think you were actually referencing an Austin Power line, "Please allow myself to introduce myself". In which case....

"No doubt, love, but as long as people are still having promiscuous sex with many anonymous partners without protection, while at the same time, experimenting with mind-expanding drugs in a consequence environment, I'll be sound as a pound!"[/b]

Austin powers? darn...your knowledge is deeper than mine...I thought it was a syntax issue and it was a reference to sympathy for the devil (see my post...)

I'm a little unscientific with my training. For indoor trainer workouts, I'll do one of the following:

1) If I have 1-2 hours, I'll just ride at a moderate pace, switching gears periodically to break up the monotony. If I feel good, I'll pick it up towards the end.

2) Less than 1 hour, do some intervals, usually X times 5 minutes (3 min moderate/2 min hard).

Always warm up and down for about 10 minutes each. Usually watch Tivo'd episodes of 'Family Guy' or some other sitcom.

(Apologies to everyone else for the on-topic reply.)

TxDude -- shouldn't that read. . ."in a NO consequence environment"?

My advice is to not post any questions to this board until you are about 2 1/2 months away from your IM. Then, no matter what you ask, you will be so damn confused as to what you should be or should have been doing, you will convince yourself that there is no way that you are well-prepared enough for your upcoming race. At least that is how it worked for me. My race is 15 days away, i am a bundle of nerves, and reading this board, oh 4 hours a day, is giving me a headache. Then again, maybe it is just the demons.
I'm not well. Not well at all.

I like to only watch TV when I'm working out. So I'm on stage 6 of the Tour De France right now (don't tell me if Lance wins!). In between I watch my other shows. I spend 6 or so hours a week on the bike trainer. Most of the workouts are aerobic. Won't change until about 3 months before my A race. I track my watts and my hr. Then I try to beat them the next time. I basically follow Joel Friels training methods.

Oh and watching Decisive Battles and Command Decisions can be a little slow. If it's a fast workout watch some action shows.

Still a member of the the 3rd hand racing team. Maybe that Tibbs dude will sell me his 2nd hand bike?

Oooooh, talk about a syntax error!!!

This could mean that your workout consists of only watching TV. Ex: "I like to only run when I'm working out" or "I like to only swim when I'm working out."

You should probably have said:

"I only like to watch TV when I'm working out" meaning the only time you watch TV is when you're working out;
or
"I like to watch TV only, when I'm working out" indicating a preference for TV over say, a DVD movie, an iPod, or maybe a simulator of some sort.

Actually I'm planning on buying an Endless Pool. :)

I can make a cut out, install some plexiglass, add water proof ear phones and I'm good to go.

You're right. I only watch when riding, running (treadmill) and lifting. It's all in my workout room.
