Pareto's 20/80 rule & training
OK a bit off the topic but my way to unload some stress: Had an absolute hell day at work yesterday, got in at 08:00 and left at 23:30. So on my way back thought a bit more about Pareto's 20/80 rule....

I missed my training yesterday, so that got me thinking, does 20% of my training produce 80% of my performance? i.e. Those long rides, they are maybe 20% of my training (I'm not talking volume here) but do they count to 80% of my performance? What about my swimming, do the 30x 100m sessions that counts as part of the 20% interval training add 80% of my performance?
Does 20% of my time on bike maintenance save me 80% of my time later on.

Flip side: Does 80% of my training then only produce 20% of my performance? Does 20% paying attention to detail add a 80% beneift?

OK my favorite: Those racing tubulars 20% and Clinchers 80%, BUT do those 20% tubulars = 80% enhancement over the 80% clinchers = 20% enhancement... ;-)

Ok ok.... nuff said...
