P3 Carbon is at ATC!
We had a 56 P3 Carbon overnighted to us from Cervelo. We are currently building it and will post more pictures on our sight during the day @ www.austintricyclist.com .

I'm doing a mostly standard build except Cane Creek Carbon brakes, FSA RD 400 wheels,
FSA OS 140 stem, 175 length DA 10 cranks, and Vision carbon aerobars.

I raced my P3 SL at about 16.25 pounds so this should build out super light. More pictures to follow during the afternoon.

I'm doing a mostly standard build except for an Easton aero fork (1/2 pound savings), FSA RD 400 wheels,
FSA OS 140 stem, 175 length DA 10 cranks, and Vision carbon aerobars.

I raced my P3 SL at about 16.25 pounds so this should build out in the fifteens. More pictures to follow during the afternoon.
Cool Don ... keep us updated!

What the heck are you doing?
You don't put clip-on aerobars on a P3C.
Next time you post a photo I expect to see carbon-max Visions or Oval a900's. Kapeshe?

What fork is shipping with it? I can't find the spec on a chord but thought the wolf was also about 400g, same as the Easton.

Thanks.

It comes with a Wolf "Time Trial" fork. It looks like a slightly deeper version of the standard Wolf road fork.
I prefer the flexibility and low weight of the 3 piece Vision bar system. I install the pads in the turned forward position so I can get a low front end (around 16cm of drop) without knocking my knees on them.
I really like many aspects (looks, weight, brakes) of the Easton Attack bars (they are my favorite one piece so far) but the pads are too far back.

The mechanics are running the cables right now. While the cable routing was slightly harder than a normal P3, they said it was still better than any other carbon bike they have done and they believe the shifting will perform a lot better than other routing systems.

That is great news. Cervelo is spot on schedule with what they projected as delivery for the P3C. I'm impressed.

Right.
With apologies to KB at QR.
The options: Ult TiPhoon at over $5000 or a P3 Carbon for $4395.
The answer: At the same price, the P3C blows everything away. At a thousand or more less than the others, there really is no competition.

Mark, we missed you at Cactus Challenge Saturday.

not so sure. the tiphoon comes with real design carbon wheels with super nice hubs and is a Titanium bike which will last much longer than a carbon bike.

the lucero is at $100 less than the P3C with ultegra and carbon wheels....

"... is a Titanium bike which will last much longer than a carbon bike..."

Oooookaaay, Francios. Because as we all know, triathletes buying ultra high end bikes hold onto them for decades. They aren't the type of consumer to get a new bike every two to three years. The most important things to the sort of people these bikes appeal to are value and long term durability. Their purchases have nothing to do with wanting the latest sexy thing.

Though the tiphoon is sweet. Whenever I'm around that bike I catch myself staring.

Yeah, I know... the flu can be a bitch. Still looking for the results though.

Have fun with the P3C. I am assuming it will debut Saturday ;-)

I think Don will keep this one around for awhile.

Don, if the weather is clear by noon tomorrow, lets go ride! I don't even want to ride the thing, I just want to see it on the road. As a bonus, you would have two "on the road" rides in one week! Imagine the possibilities.

oh, no shortcuts by the Zilker train tracks....not on the P3C!

Well, that 200g in the fork would be the best 200g you can spend on the bike if you're going for aerodynamics. The dropouts alone make a difference, not to mention the exact blade and crown shape. I love the new Wolf TT, that's probably my favorite fork to date, but I have to wait until we have the 1" version ready for my P3.

I sweet talked Emma at Cervelo (and paid an extra $90 to have it overnighted by UPS).

I rode it a couple of minutes ago with Z8 wheels on it. It felt very light and fast. Overall it seems very stiff when applying power to it. I think its a keeper.

I have a couple more pictures posted at www.austintricyclist.com .

I intend to train and race on it thru the summer so this one's not for sale (well, unless I got the right offer).

The Wolf TT fork appeared more aero but in our hast to build (and build light), I thru on a 2004 Easton Aero red fork that matched up pretty well.

I've always heard the mantra "aero over light" (and believe in it) but often turned into a weight weanie anyways.

After recieving wise councel from Gerard regarding aerodynamics, I've switched back to the Wolf fork (it definately looked the best of all the options).

With the Wolf TT fork, the bike weighs in at 16.9 pounds.

Again, the bike looks and rides great. Cervelo has done it again.

At IMAZ, Phil had some interesting comments on the change in fork and the reduction in frontal area. It was one of the points that stood out, but I am still not clear on how you managed to shave down the head tube area, but use a wider steerer. Damn, that bike is beautiful.

Why on earth would you do the Cane Creek Carbon brake? They weigh equal too, or more than Dura Ace or Record - certainly more than Zero Gravity and other brakes out there. Just want the carbon factor?
