Please check this out. Lots of cool stuff to bid on, and the money goes to aid in the recovery.

I'm not responsible for this, I just got the press release and wanted to forward it along. From the press release:

The Friends of the Laguna Phuket Triathlon is a cooperation of such diverse organizations as PCH Sports, Active.com, CytoSport, Slowtwitch.com, De Soto Sport, Profile Design, Multisports.com, Ironman North America and many others.

ShawnF, I hate to be doubting the human spirit, especially in the wake of this terrible tragedy. Yet it concerns me that I must enter my CC number when I register prior to purchasing anything. One would like to believe that this is an honest relief effort, but we're all familiar with some of the scams involved following 9/11, preying on innocent and grieving families. Since you acknowledged that you only passed this along, do you have any sense for the "authenticity" of this fundraiser? Again, I certainly do not mean to offend anyone. Thanks.

I wanna go fast!

Maybe a dumb question, but when does it end?

This is how I became aware of the auction. Murphy Reinschreiber of PCH Sports is involved with the Laguna Phuket Triathlon, which is held at the beginning of each December. PCH Sports also represents athletes like Peter Reid, Lori Bowden, Simon Lessing, and Luke Bell. These athletes, along with those who have raced the LPT, wanted to help the victims. Murphy sent an email out to the industry folks asking for donations to be auctioned. Many in the triathlon community have done just that...CytoSport, DeSoto, Xterra Wetsuits, Splish Swimwear and IMNA. While I can't speak on the way the auction is set-up, know that I, on behalf of ASICS, have donated items to be auctioned, and have registered myself...there are some cool things on there that I'd like.

I've got no problem bidding and putting down my CC with Murphy involved. His wife Shannon is also helping out. Murphy has been involved with Triathlon forever and he is an honest, upfront guy. He is one of the few people in the sport that could pull off organzing this Auction and getting people to donate items. I've got three bids in for athlete stuff! I've also contacted Shannon about donating some items. Z
