OT: 15% Restocking fee??? Ouch!!!!!
I recently ordered a pair of Bib shorts from an online retailer. I had never done business w/ them before, but i had known of them for a while. So when I found the item I was looking fo ron their web site for a reasonable price I placed an order.
The Bibs I ordered are a brand/style I had worn before, but I have, well, *matured* a little over the winter and need a bigger size.
I received the Bibs and they are much too large,,,seems I am between sizes. So, I went to their website and looked at their return policy.......

Yikes!!! A 15% restocking fee!!! Ouch!!!!

So, it is going to cost me around $20 plus shipping to return these! They are brand new, with tags, unwashed, never ridden, tried on once over clean undergarments(..pretty clean ;-).

This seems like highway robbery to me. I spend hundreds of dollars(thousand??) online each year for bike related commerce. I live in a very small town and thus have no LBS from which to buy. If I had bought from Performance or Nashbar I could have worn these into the ground for a year and sent them back "'cause I don't like 'em" and they would refund 100% no questions. I rarely return items, so this seems particularly absurd to me.....

What do you think???

If you exchange does the re-stocking fee still apply? You will prolly have to pay for shipping, but check to see if the re-stocking fee applies if you exchange them for a different size?

Yeah, Greg, hind sight.....but I have never had an online retailer do this...
Like I said, I rarely return stuff. My wife on the other hand is the Online shop-return-shop queen. Again, we live in a small town and we rely on the 'net to get stuff. As much as she consumes, she has never had this happen to her.

RF,

My quandry is that I needed a bigger size but the next size is too large. So I don't need the smaller size, as this is already too small.

Guess I should get a smaler size and just lose 10 #'s!!!!

Still sucks,

perhaps you could negotiate with them one-on-one to make an exception, otherwise you will be so depressed that you couldn't think of doing business with them again...

what is the retailer so we all know about the policy?

Ooh, don't let TomD or JimM see that - they'll call for you to be cast into the pits of hell. The price is the price!
