This is the first time I've ever heard the term "climbing shoe."

No published weight. But at first glance, I'd be it'd have a real hard time competing with the Giro Prolight Techlace at 150 grams and more adjustability with 3 closures instead of the single Boa.

Well I guess "climbing shoe" really is a thing. But looking at what's advertised as "climbing shoes," none of them are actually that light compared to a good high-end racing shoe.

Do users have to stop and change shoes before the descent?

I reject your reality and substitute my own!

Yes, you obviously need to put your descending shoes on. These have cast iron soles and the upper is made of lead sheeting which you mould around your foot.

Don't be silly - they just flip them over like they used to do with a double sided singlespeed rear wheel.

I expect to see also "climbing tyres" and "climbing helmets"
Too bad I have not a "climbing body"

with the UCI minimum on bike weight, it does make sense to focus on trimming weight elsewhere. Removing mass from shoes/shocks/clothes/helmet/glasses/etc would all add up. I'd bet that with proper attention to detail, you could probably trim 500g fairly easily and maybe as much as 1kg from typical race day equipment. That could be meaningful on a major mountain stage such as Alpe d'Huez.

I dont call it a climbing shoe, but I have a couple pairs of techlace prolights.. I just think they are the most comfortable shoes I have and use them for everthing but gravel. I tried spesh many times and they just dont work, but I like their styles.

Specialized S-Works Road Shoes - 224g
Kask Protone helmet - 215 grams
Kit: bib, jersey, socks, gloves (total guess) - 180 grams
Roka GP-1 glasses - 25 grams

total weight 644 g.

It'd be hard to take 500g, much less a kilo out of that. 25% reduction in weight (which I think would be difficult to achieve with gear anyone would want to use given their focus on weight already) would be 161g.

Check out the DMT KR1 in flyknit. I just got then and they are next level comfort. Only other flyknit shoes I have are my Nike Vaporflys and they are just as comfortable. Seems this may be Specialized version not a 'climbing shoe.'

I would actually weigh the kit if I were you. You're going to be a bit surprised.

Rapha has marketed a "Climbers Shoe" model for the past few years. It's produced by Giro.

Ever since I started wearing the Ultraboost in 2014 or 2015, I've felt the same way. No comparison in comfort. I hope the trend continues in cycling, so that we get tri closure options with knit uppers.

Yes you will save .0003 watts if you wear Specialized's $400 climbing socks too.

Why is this in response to me? I was vouching for the comfort of knit shoes, not low weight or these shoes. The ultraboost is heavy as a tank

Nice catch. By "tri closure" I meant a strap or possibly single Boa. I wouldn't want to fiddle with dual-Boa if I'm trying to save time with a flying mount.
