Here is mine. We had a small 10x12 room in the basement I could takeover for my 'pain cave'. I am afraid it scores pretty low on the "scary scale" :)

Lots of room for core workouts when I push the bench a bit to the side.

From the other corner...

Dual screen computrainer setup... One for data, the other for video (real course or DVD)

Are you organized? 'cause I am... :) I reassure you, no signs anywhere else in my house about IM or triathlon... that stuff stays in the gym :)

Lots of riding there in the winter, 4 hours trainer ride are not uncommon... so I actually enjoy the bright colors on the wall in cold and dark Sunday morning in the winter :)

Where did you buy those "Marathon" and "Ironman" hangers?

Nice pad. Not sure where you are in the US, but if it's midwest or South, money for that kind of house would sadly only get you a 'normal' house here in CA in a suburb with no waterfront.

Neurosurgeons make good money, though!

I live in Merrick, NY. Long Island...

... and thanks!!

I'm sitting at home watching the weather channel and wondering what this house will look like in 24 hours. I hope you weather the storm well!

Here is the backyard now... wind blowing away from the house. Around 9PM is the next high tide... that will tell the story. Thanks for the well wishes. I'm going on the trainer now :) Might as well get a ride in :))

and this is how far the water is from the top of the pier...

Please tell us that your pain cave (and lovely home) survived Hurricane Sandy...my heart goes out to everyone on the East Coast

Thanks for your concern. We survived it... a lot of damage to backyard. Pier, railings, decking, glass, wave runner, lifts are either destroyed or gone. The house held up well... minor flooding in basement but the CAVE is intact :) Many of my friends had major flood damage secondary to the storm surge. My family feels very fortunate to have made it through with our health and our house relatively intact. We still have no power, but have been staying in a hotel (thankful to find one). I will post pics when I get access to my computer.

Again... thanks for all the well wishes from the ST crowd. BTW... I took my CT to the hotel :)

Good to hear the Cave is intact! (and that your family is well, too!)
With the dramatic changes to the coastline, it's fortunate that you sustained "relatively" minor damage to your property.
Would be interested in seeing the pics when you have a chance...although it's impossible for most of us who aren't right there to fully appreciate the full effects of Sandy, but the photos I've seen so far are mind-boggling.

Hey...what kind of flooring is that. I am thinking of adding a treadmill in my garage, etc. Was trying to think about what to do with the floor instead of just cement. Looks good. :)

That cement gets pretty cold in the winter. The flooring is that cheap indoor-outdoor carpet from Home Depot. They come in 12 foot widths. I want a couple things to finish it off. A couple of rubber mats for the bike and the treadmill, another large LCD and some paint for the wall. No need to go outdoors during the winter.

Pics of the cave Post Sandy... The house is mostly OK, basement had some water. Most, if not all of the backyard will likely not be covered by insurance. Sucks... but many many are suffering much worse. We finally got power back this Friday.

Looks like the base of the pier is still there, that is good. Do you know where your boat is? My brothers boat is MIA!

The boat in the initial pics was the previous owner's. I have a Waverunner that is MIA also. Most people with boats or waverunners sustained major damage even though they were supposedly "safe".

Very nice!

However, I'd say this looks more like a luxury health spa than a "Pain Cave".

You could probably do with a couple more TV's/monitors. ;0)

This might qualify as an actual cave. Just missing my laptop on a rickety metal stand.
