1) Frodo
2) Gomez
3) Currie

I think it will be a podium of guys who can do all three, leaving Lange and Sanders off the podium.

Crap. I knew I’d mess up without consulting a Kona start list. I really wanted to wing it this year 😂

Frodo & Ryf.

Can't see it playing out any different to how it went this weekend. Swap Brownlee and Kanute for Sanders/Kienle/Lange

But it's only his second Ironman and Kona has crazy bike course dynamics which tend to affect performance in the hot marathon. His race strategy is good (sit in all day, stay within himself) and as long as no one goes off the front in Kona he might come off the bike in the front group. I really don't see him in top three in his second Ironman race. Maybe he'll prove me wrong Oct. 13.

I am not going to try and pretend to know the women’s contenders well enough! Obviously Ryf will win - the only sad thing for us witnessing her performances is that she wasn’t around when Chrissie was. I hope Mel Hauschildt gets the performance she deserves and I’m sure we’ll see Helle F in that top 5.

Men’s...wow. Hard to pick. Jan has an air of Crowie 2011 about him, doesn’t he?

1. Frodeno
2. Lange
3. Kienle
4. Gomez
5. Sanders

I agree with this top 4. Except the order will be hard if not Impossible to predict.

I can't wait.

I see 2010 Macca dynamics in play here - I just don't think the big bike boys will be able to shake Frodo this year. But nobody really wants to see Gomez at the beginning of the marathon I don't think...so they will do whatever they can to leave him in the dust.

Is Sarah True racing Kona this year (I believe she has the points)? If so she could well be a dark horse in the women’s race.

Well you can't bet against Frodeno after yesterday but how do you violate the rule that the winner comes from the previous top 4...

Let's go wildcard here:

1) Lionel sanders (why not)
2) Lange
3) Frodeno
4) Kienle
5) Mcnamee

However I think what is really interesting is going to be the dynamics and what sort of response there is from everyone from any moves. Nobody wants to get on to the run course with Lange but I don't think people will feel to threatened by him going into the race even though he is the reigning world champ. On the other hand do you try to go with Starky on the bike? What about waiting for the colonel and his cavalry? This is shaping up to be an exciting race...

One the women's race

1) Ryf
2) Charles
3) Jackson
4) Rinnie
5) Crowley

I don't really care about the other 9, but I sure hope Lucy Charles wins. Last year's race was an inspiring performance, so I will always be a fan.

Men
1. Jan Frodeno
2. Patrick Lange
3. Sebastian Kienle
4. Lionel Sanders
5. Josh Amberger

Women
1. Daniela
2. Lucy
3. Melissa Hauschildt
4. Kaisa Sallie
5. Susie Cheetham

Gomez and Sanders seem to have their sycophants all over the board. Gomez first start at Kona and he's just too old to be starting this. His window to win is basically Frodo's window, Frodo wins he ties Crowie for being the oldest. Sticking around ITU for so long if he actually had long course ambitions was a horrible idea.

Amberger has oddly enough fallen off alot of people's radar. I hate to agree with YOU but he could be primed for a break through.
