Junior Development
A track coach asked me to look into Junior development. He has a top ranked high school runner in CA and is one of those athletes that could probably decide to walk on and make a D 1 squad in volleyball or crew or wherever her fancy took her. Well, she had a running injury and got in the pool and took to it like a fish and continued the rehab on the bike with some impressive times on some local climbs. So to the point. Anyone know of Jr. development squads and or paths that I could suggest. I also recall some schools (college) that had more flexible X-C and track programs to work with these athletes.
Thanks in advance

CA you're going to have lots of development teams. I'd recommend MBM for a fairly established program. School wise I don't really know. I know westpoint and navy are, but I don't think she wants into the military.

http://www.lindseyathletics.com/sport/0/20.php Check Lindsey Wilson College out. We have a couple of Triathletes on the squad plus the school also has a swim team, XC/track teams and of course the best for last, a cycling team.

Edit: Changed cx to XC. Plus LWC has real scholarships and cycling is a D1 sport.

UCLA has some kind of scholarship program on its tri team, too.

Also, Chris mentioned West Point and Navy. I might be a bit biased, but I'm just saying there is another service academy that's D3 where graduates post threads on here asking whether the tri training climate is best in Honolulu, LA, or Jacksonville, FL. The fact that it's D3 also means that the club-level tri team plays much nicer with XC/track/swimming, too...

Where in California?
MBM is primarily a central state team; Tri Juniors is San Diego based, there is another new one named Juniors Triathlon Club (not certain where they are based but the website is http://www.juniorstriathlonclub.com).
Here is a link to the USAT site listing some (not all) of the junior teams: http://www.usatriathlon.org/...ior-elite/teams.aspx
UCLA currently does not have a real scholarship in the traditional sense, the triathlon "scholarship" is that the coach will coach the athlete for free; nothing to do with reduced school costs.
