I swam 1 hour today. The knee is still kind of swollen and bothering me, so I'm going to start babying it instead of f'ing with it every time it starts to feel better.
So, today nothing that hard and nothing beyond 2 beat kick with medium wall push offs in 50m pool. Also, got an MRI this AM.

Main Set:

4x200@3:00 (ave: 2:32)
8x100@1:30 (ave: 1:15/16)

Very much so...even if mine was only the better part of a week. Swimming is usually easier to avoid down time from injury...unless you get a flesh eating bacteria on the leg ;) or try to do ninja shoulder rolls on slightly jagged pavement (which my body kinda just did without planning it)...

sounds like it's time for a BLADES OF DEATH throwdown with mr wide recovery

AM:
normal 500 warmup

10x100 IM cruise on 1:40
5x200 pull, paddles + buoy, alternate breathing 3/5 by 50 on 2:45
100 easy

2600scm

and if the weather cooperates, hopefully I'll be racing the splash n dash this afternoon. 750m swim in a quarry + 3x1km loops around the quarry. And I hope the pros don't decide to show up today to dust me.

In Austin? I travel down there for business (can see the quarry from the office) occasionally and have wanted to swim there...time hasn't allowed as of yet though.

And...I'll play:
warmup
6x50's all out 20s rest
1000 cruising
3x200's race pace
cooldown

Back in the pool today after my Half IM last Saturday.

3 x 500 scm
1 x 1,000 scm
Total: 2,500 scm

The race went ok for only doing 8 swims and 8 one hour bike rides on the trainer since March. My splits were :32, 2:52 & 1:30. I think I need to finally get serious with the bike if I want to improve.

Nice distance - both run and swim. You should probably enter a race soon, before you fry. :-)

My pool is closed until Sunday, so I'll swim in the pool at my work at lunchtime. It has no gutters, so it becomes a slosh fest. I guess that's good ocean swimming practice.

Yep, that's the one. The quarry is pretty nice to swim in. Clean water and mostly sheltered from the wind.

Managed to be first out of the water (~9:15, officially 9:58 which includes transition time). Not paced particularly well, as there were a couple guys going balls-out from the start, and I didn't want to get trapped behind them. But it only took about 2 minutes for the top guy to make up the 12 second lead I had on the run.

Didn't get to swim Tuesday in the company pool - boss invited me to lunch. Got in today, into the slosh pit. Note: only two can decently swim in that pool, along the walls. At the hidden end of the pool (from the google map image) has stairs which leave about 3 feet of wall on either side for turning and pushing off.

1000 straight in 12:36
500 kicks
5x100@ 1:30 ~1:10 each

feel better dude; an easy swim workout usually makes me feel better when I'm slightly sick

300 easy
8x50 drill

7x300 on 4:15. Descended from 3:44 to 3:40.

4x50 drill warm down

3000 scm

pool temp is around 85, air temp around 95. really having a hard time each swim session deciding between getting sun and overheating in the outdoor pool or being able to go harder in the dim and cooler (78-80*) indoor pool. sun usually wins, so that i don't end up with a tri-top/farmer tan.
