Thanks, Andrew. I will try that this evening. I tried inputting a route from your waypoints that you mentioned on multimap but it was unable to come up with a route. I will pour over a Lewes area OS this evening, work and Giro permitting.

If you can calculate elevation gain and loss the four to try are:
Groombridge to maresfield
Groombridge to Wych Cross
Lewes to Wych Cross
Eridge to Maresfield
See what those give you, I'd be interested in the Groombridge to Maresfield one, assuming I have the roads right, I'll check it when I get home and log on tonight.

I just checked it out, Groombridge railway cutting is at approx 40m above sea level and Kingstanding on the way to Maresfield is at about 220, Crowborough Beacon peaks at about 240m.
So all the "climbs" are in the region of 200-210m over 4-5 miles. An slope of approx 3-4%? I can give you much steeper shorter climbs in the same region.
