Did the 400 TT in 5:44. A hell of a long way from my 1993 pb of 4:12.xx. As they say, use it or lose it.

I got in my first swim of the challenge - 2,900m. That's longer than I usually do in a swim session, if I keep this up 35km will be no problem!

On a different note , if people want to know the calculations for spreadsheet, it works just like excel. For your total distance the calculation is =SUM(?7:?36) where ? is your row letter. For your distance to go, the calculation is =?38-?3 (or ?4 or ?5, depending if you're measuring meters, yards or miles).

Did 1,000. Just an easy swim with a few drill sets thrown in for fun. I've been doing these one-arm drills that 'seem' to be helping with my catch. Or lack of catch. Or something like that. Anyway, you stroke with one arm. And I don't mean it like that. Dirty minds.

I fixed the spreadsheet...again. I think people are trying to move around rows and in the process are messing up the formulas. Please stop hurting the spreadsheet. I'm going to keep my eye on it and if I notice that it's broken I will fix it.

When I open the spreadsheet, it says "View Only", and I can't edit it... how do I fix that?

Oh, and I put in 1200 yd last night (11/1) - 10% of my goal. Not much and pretty slow by most folks standards, but my shoulders are sore. Funny how much easier it is to swim when you actually move your legs a bit instead of just dragging them along behind you...

And I'm planning to hit the pool again at lunch today. If my arms don't give out.

If it's view only my guess is that you're either not signed in to google or you're not using a supported browser. This is a list of supported browsers:

Our pool goes to LCM from Friday to Sunday -- I feel so lucky! It's also LCM all summer. My kids hate it, but I love it. :-)

My masters coach goes kind of easy on us on Fridays:

Warmup:
-600 alt. free/choice by 50
-8x100 drill/swim by 50 on 1:50
-4x200 kick w/fins: side/back (dolphin)/side/stomach on 3:30
-100 easy

Main set:
-16x50 swim w/paddles on 0:50 (0:42-0:43)
-300 back/breast by 50

-8x25 fast freestyle kick w/board on 0:40; odds silent kick, evens reg. kick

Warm down:
-200 IM drill
-200 easy

Total: 4000 LCM (4374 yards for the spreadsheet)

Funny. I accessed it with Firefox 2.0 from my Linux box and had no problem editing. Had problems using even newer versions of Firefox from both my Mac and Windoze boxen.

I took a break from triathlon and this site to deal with real life since May, and I recall only swimming a handful of times since then. But I have a race in Phuket in exactly a month and a major goal for a race next year. Am back training and have a new program, so I'm in.

But I start swimming on Monday;-)

It was a hard set. I'm not sure what that would convert into SCY. It felt harder than a 2:35 but I only swim SCY once every couple of weeks now so I don't have a good feel for those times anymore. Anyway here is todays workout...

sets of 500s are my favorite thing to do - they are hard though! I never have any qualms about doing sets of 400s but you throw that extra 100 y in there and it seems to wear me right out... nice set.

JASON!!! I'm stressing. I have a meet tomorrow and my stroke felt horrible today. I didn't as much swim as I just crashed through the water. Which one of you stole my pretty freestyle? Give it back! NOW!!!!

I have been looking forward to this meet for 2 months (yes, I'm serious) because it is at my FAVORITE pool and I want so much to feel good and swim well (like I did yesterday) but today I swam terribly (seriously, look at those 100 splits, they suck) and so now I am stressing, and will be until, like, my races are over tomorrow. (I'm swimming the 200 and the 500, maybe some IM events and relays? but definitely the 200 and the 500)
