Subject:Help stop piracy in triathlons! Wayne Brown is bad news!

I need help on this one.
I have been the race director for the Great lakes triathlon in Michigan
for the past 9 years.
I contracted a web service guy by the name of Wayne Brown. He resgister
our .com and life was great. Recently Wayne figured out the money that
could be made in triathlons. So he stole my website and teamed up with
3-disciplines race manegement to take over my race.
Any help would appreciated!

I don't really know anything about this, but the guy mentioned (Wayne Brown) has the domain (www.greatlakestri.com) registered in him name, and he's listed as a race director.

Its possible that the guy is making it up, or its possible that he let the domain expire, and this guy renewed it in his name... nothing like a conspiracy thoery to envoke some heated discussion.

this is the info about the domain registration:

Domain Name: GREATLAKESTRI.COM
Registrar: TLDS, LLC DBA SRSPLUS
Whois Server: whois.srsplus.com
Referral URL: http://www.srsplus.com
Name Server: NS1.JITTERBUGINTERACTIVE.NET
Name Server: NS3.JITTERBUGINTERACTIVE.NET
Status: REGISTRAR-LOCK
Updated Date: 10-nov-2004
Creation Date: 30-may-2001
Expiration Date: 30-may-2006

And 3-disciplines is not a pirate company. For the most part they put on good races and are good citizens.

The first thing that makes me suspicious is that this guy is implying someone stole his race in order to make money. Outside of the World Triathlon Corp., is there really money to be made in putting on races?

I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'

Adriano Rosa (AD) is a pretty standup guy so this a little surprising. He and Wayne used to run Great Lakes Triathlon. I was wondering why 3D was running that race now.

Too bad for AD. Looks like he got worked.

Wayne and Adriano still seemed to be running the race this year. Kenny was there from 3D but he was just announcing and timing. I've done the race the last 5 years and Wayne and Adriano ran it all those years, so the idea that they recently stole it is ridiculous.

I know Wayne and was at the race. I made the same observations as Thom. I also know he and Kenny are good friends. AD also raced that day and I have to say this is a joke.

the 3D Web site lists The Great Lakes Tri this way:

Great Lakes Triathlon Championship (produced by Wayne Brown) MMSPS

so it seems to be part of 3Ds MMSPS point series.

Hasn't Kenny posted on here in the past? Maybe he'll come by and tell us what's up.

I thought it was a little odd that GLTC was part of both the 3D MMPS and the Michigan Grand Prix series. This year may have been the first step in 3D taking over the race but who knows.

Both AD and Wayne are great guys, and I would be surprised that either would begin airing dirty laundry in the open.

It is a great race and I hope that it continues no matter who is in control.

The original posters name is A.D Rosa
adrosa@biocorrect.com. No idea about this at all but after hearing some of the posts it does sound odd.

That is weird. Was Great Lakes a USAT race or insured by whomever 3D uses. As i understand all of the Mi points series races are USAT.

Yes, Great Lakes was USAT sanctioned. I wondered if 3D was just brought in to do the timing, but I am not exactly sure what 3D's role was.
