Ironman Louisville Official Thread
Am I not seeing this thread already started? No love for Louisville? C'mon guys, folks are doing an Ironman now!

No real video yet (it seems to be a shot of the finish line with occasional audio blurbs about the race), but go to http://ironman.com/, click on "Live Race Coverage" and check the text updates. It says "Live" video coverage starts at noon?

Is it a wave swim. Somwone mentioned in another thread that they were keeping the TT start.

I miss this thread (regarding TT start), what is the exact is the difference between each athlete start... also in what order do they send them off.

Thanks,
Alex

The pros go off in a single wave at 6:50, then the AGers all self-seed and go off at 7:00 one at a time a few seconds apart until 7:45. For AGers, your official time doesn't start until you enter the water.
I heard encouragement for slow swimmers to try and get in early since they start the swim cutoff timer after the last person enters the water.

Yeah, amazing how wetsuits help - even for good IM swimmers! I sure missed mine last year :( ...

I think the athlete guide even said faster than normal swim times can be expected because they've got a long leg with the current. I guess they underestimated the power of wetsuits...

Wetsuits are a BIG help. I swam in a race yesterday with a guy who always kicks my butt in the pool. But, he never could get past me yesterday when we both had wetsuits on.
So yep, seems they help a lot more with a crappy swimmer like me than I understood.

Not sure if this has been mentioned but in Louisville this afternoon, there is the Ironman race going on and also UL vs. UK football game at PapaJohns stadium. I believe the game starts at 3 or 3:30. I looked at the run map and I see the run course is very close to the stadium. I'm guessing there won't be too many issues before the game as there won't be that many people out on the run course but after the game is another story. I hope there are not any stories about irate drivers pissed off with these runners.

Anyone in Louisville hear how they are going to handle this?

Not only wetsuit help for faster swim times, but how much energy will you save for the rest of the race!!! I consider myself a descent swimmer (54-55mins) when I wear a wetsuit I just use my arms to save my legs for the rest of the race. I sure couldn't do this without it. So I'm saving 4-5 mins on the swim leg, but at the end it's really more 10-15mins...

Is anyone else having trouble getting the IMlive website to work. I keep getting an error.

BTW, it looked to me as if there was a one or two minute run between coming out of the water and before "entering" T1. This could also account for the very slow swim times.

looks like Eganski is on track .. first bike segment is about the same as most of the MPRO.
Speaking of MPRO's .. I was surprised to see that "The Sergio" was racing. He already has a Kona spot (From Florida) right?

ST's Richard Armstrong has a great swim for him but still a bit adrift in the mens elite field. He can ride a bike though.

Zach's first segment bike split is blazin!

Looks like hot/humid as usual, but a little nicer than last year.
