Kienle has been running really well at Frankfurt and 70.3 WC. While Jan is on paper the better runner, Kienle has the cooling advantage as the smaller man.

Anyone have the temp and humidity on Palani and on the QueenK.

Maybe they break the record, but I believe sub 8 is out. They just left T2 too late. No one has ever run sub 2:40 in Kona other than Mark Allen (his 2:40 included T2)

5 peeps only a minute back on the run-this is very exciting
(not as much as the Olympics where people went way over their pace for conditions, but really cool)

I doubt any will take chapstick dropped on the ground by their significant other..

not quite to Gwen's ability compared to others, but I think Frodo has much more in him.
Of course, I could be very, very wrong.

My 2 cents. Frodo and Sebi are over running. 5.55 per mile pace at 2.9 miles. Mark and Dave were running slower. No one has ever run 2:35 pace at Kona or no one has run sub 2:40. I think Frodo and Kienle are "over running" less than the guys chasing them out of T1. A lot of those guys will blow as they are running right at 6 min pace. None of those guys can sustain that.

If I can't have a Canuck win, I want one of the Germans to win. These guys are awesome

I remember Frodo walking aid stations last year and two years ago to cool down. I bet he won't be doing that today with Kienle on his heels. Is he going to blow up at some point...?

That first 5k pace might hurt them. You're right. Might help those back, like Sanders and Thomas, possibly pick up a podium.

Can't believe how quick kienle closed that gap after running extra around the aid station....looked like he was sprinting

x2 on that.

I think the Canadian win is out. Sanders needs to run 2:39 if Frodo runs 2:45 just for a "tie".
