That train broke up pretty quick. Thomas dropped back to 2:57 back. Sanders is 3 secs behind him.

Thomas may have dropped back but the train is still huge.

Yeah. Looks like 11 still there.

how many ahead of thomas are betters runners?

Isn't this jesses first kona? He will not crack the top 5, maybe not even top 10. (I might have to eat my words, but i dont think so)

I think a top 10 is definitely doable, which would be a great result for him. Top 5 is a bit of a stretch at this point unless we have a few big blow-ups.

Thomas lost a lot of time - almost 2 minutes - between Kawaihae and Waikoloa. He had been just ahead of Sanders, now 1:12 behind him. Sanders lost 30 seconds to the lead on that segment.

It is. And he could run a great marathon if he's not overcooking the bike. If all these guys get off within 5-6 minutes it's going to be a fun first 10k of the marathon to watch.

What about andy Raeleart? He always comes out of nowhere on the run to salvage a podium.

Today LS is going to crack 2:40 for the marathon and will move from 4th at the half way point to a podium spot. Just depends on how much the others fade. LS can suffer more than anyone else in this race.

Where the hell are these 'spotters' that the live feed keeps boasting about? I see nothing but barren rocks and a couple of strands of grass. Are the athletes holding conversations with people on motos?

Just came back after 2 hours splitting and stacking outside. The German picture was frozen. I'm back to the IM broadcast. Sanders in a bad patch?

They just panned forward on Ryf and I'm pretty sure that the pace car wasn't too far in front of her. Perhaps that's what they're hiding.

Seems like drafting penalties are on the rise this year. Trying to call a tighter race this year maybe?
