Ideas for portable peanut butter dispenser?
I'm finding that snacking on an occasional peanut while training is working really well for me (in addition to other sugary fuels). Reaching into a ziploc and pulling them out is a bit unwieldy, especially on the bike. Does anybody have any ideas on what to use to squeeze out an occasional dab of peanut butter? I don't want to buy a bunch of pre-packaged single-serving stuff with the price jacked up when I can just make something myself with better ingredients. My best idea so far is to put it in a ziploc, bite off the corner, and just squeeze it out. Is there anything better out there?

If peanuts are working, could you find a small flip top bottle? Something like a Tic Tac dispenser, but with a larger opening.

I've not tried it myself but I've heard of others using waxed paper. Unfold and slurp.

Could you just use a gel dispenser like: http://www.fuelbelt.com/...15&category=-115 and dilute the pb just a bit to aid in dispensing?

True, but diluting peanut butter kinda creeps me out. And can you? Is peanut butter even dilutable?

couldn't you just use the small snack sized zip-locks and bite/snip the end off and use it like a pastry bag? I've done it camping and it works just fine

Something weird happens when you do this. I guess the heat generated from the bouncing brings the oil out, and then they stick to the sides of the container and won't fall out. Peanut Tectonics or something.

PB is easily diluted with water or an oil. It's not bad and i'm not talking the consistency of soup.. just a little bit of dilution to make the squeeze easier. It's like the difference between the stuff on the bottom vs the stuff on the top of a jar of all natural pb that has the oil accumulation at the top due to settling.

Are you saying there's a simple solution that doesn't require carbon fiber and price gouging? I feel so lost right now. :)

Both delicious and both available in small serving pouches. You can grab the single serve packets of Justin's from Target.

I use goTubes for honey, should work for peanut butter. If you think the pb is too thick I suppose you could 'add' a bit of peanut oil and mix the hell out of it.

Read down a bit, apparently need to test almond butters before using.

I tried using those kinds of tubes (in larger sizes) to carry water while running. Made the water taste funny. Even though it's food safe, you might notice some odd flavors.

All natural PB has more of a "goop" consistency - It oozes off a spoon so it should work decent in those tubes.

Probably not at all efficient for peanuts, but this is how I carry my Vitamin I

You can buy single serving squeeze peanut butter tubes now, might as well go that route. More expensive than jarred stuff, but not bad.

Those vacuum sealer's (hot wire plastic welders that seal plastic bags) can cut Ziploc baggies into smaller compartments (basically the same size as gu packets). Just pay attention that you get an effective seal around the zipper part. Very little peanut oil added to peanut butter if it needs it to help it smush out of the baggie. I used to do this for wrestling tournaments, $20 baggie sealer, a box of bags, and jars of peanut butter.

At tournaments, I'd just bite a corner off of the baggie, stick the whole thing in my mouth and suck it out of the bag. Easier to eat that way than opening the zipper end.

And then I found these:

Got the first ones off the table at iHop, then started buying them. Peel the lid off, lick it out of the tub. Done deal. Kinda like eating the cream out of oreos.

You can try skippy tubes, same thing as a jar, in a tube.

or this dog version with "human grade peanut butter"

Or fill the camping ones like so

Peanut butter is my favorite food and I'll eat it at least once a day. I highly recommend making some form of peanut butter sandwich or burrito (jelly, banana+honey, nutella). With that said, I wouldn't dare eat it straight from a tube. It's a gut bomb even when you're just biking.

In triathlete toys tradition, I propose a carbon fiber tube, with removable top tube snaps. You fill it with peanut butter. On one end is an opening and the other is a CO2 fitting with push button valve. You fill it up, add a cartridge, and snap onto your top tube (optional, can pocket carry or mount using a variety of high $$ fasteners.) To use, pull from top tube (or wherever) stick open end in mouth and press the button valve. CO2 pushes peanut butter out and into your mouth. Hold the button as long as you need to get desired amount of peanut butter.

Pretty scary if you need to consume Ibuprofin in those quantities or need to have it with you.
Ibuprofin is negative for training.
It makes you body "think" it is not hurt, therefore the recovery process does not work well.
I hope that you only take Ibuprofin to get your through the occasional acute injury.
Not a good idea to take during or after a hard workout. It does not help at all with recovery.

And after a few years, reintroduce a new fitting size standard and force everybody to have to adapt. Like bottom brackets. Move it from PB30 to PB60.
