Well, emotionally I am with you.

However,

Attracting a non-sport specific advertiser to the forum speaks volumes about the marketability of this forum.

From that perspective, it's pretty darn cool.

Now, what does Vonage do? where do I sign up?

Yeah, when the hell did that happen? Vonage? I would have never expected a phone company to be advertising on ST. Also, I like the old Cervelo ad better, the one with Zabriskie in it as opposed to the bike count...but either are better than Vonage, everytime I hear their name I get that stupid song-whoo-whoo-thing from their commercial in my head.

Cervelo doesn't need to advertise here anymore...that's what happens when everyone on this forum has at least 2 of their bikes.

that song is nuts. Group called 5 6 7 8s and the song is woo hoo. Fits the ads great though. Yup ST is officially big time now.

Does anyone in the tour ride Vonage? Do they make a tri-specific ride?

Now that I know some of you guys look through the special needs bags for kicks, I'm gonna put some really weird stuff in mine. I can see it now. "What the heck was he going to do with a family pack of KFC chicken, a football helmet full of peanut butter, a 12 inch rubber dildo, and naked pictures of Bea Arthur?"

Now that you mention it, Gerard has been pretty quiet here lately. By the way, for what it's worth I'm on a Vonage (Canada) system.

Hey! I resemble that remark!

Phone call from a guy meeting us for our ride on Sunday, "You'll be on the red Cervelo, right?" "No, the white one."

yep...that would be me !

Vonage is good. Having Zabriskie across the top of the screen blows the cover. Now it just looks like we are getting our webmail or something like that :-)

now we've got to get Slowman to change the color of the site on a daily basis, the bright yellow bar on the left of the screen is tough to camouflage.

whoa. wait a minute I just saw a flash of cervelo on the top main banner...

vonage is cool. You can get any area code you want - making it easier for friends to call even if you live in a different city

Agreed on the yellow banner down the side is hard to camoflage in a meeting when you are trying to view SBR140 posts using the wireless network while alt tabbing between Outlook, Powerpoint and ST :-).

The worst thing is when you plug your laptop into the projector thinking that you have Powerpoint playing but it is actually IExplorer displaying Zabriskie flying across the screen....no it never happened, but that would make my collegues laugh pretty hard :-)

Are they offering the Vonage V3SL in a carbon version later this year. Will they discontinue to V2K?

I agree with you, it's good for the sport. I would be interested to know the process that went in to getting that ad deal. Did Slowman call them and say, "Hey, I've corralled a bunch of dorks into one place on the net, all day, everyday. Want to advertise?"

Well I just clicked through the Vonage ad and sighned up. Anyone have some good( or bad) stories to give on this service and company? Sounds like a really good deal, unlimited calling for $25 a month, hard to beat that one if it works good.....

If you are satisfied with the quality of cell phone service then you will probably be happy with VOIP. If you think Cell Phones suck compared to LAN lines then be prepared to be dissapointed.

I use a VOIP (Voice Over IP) service, not Vonage, but I like it. It's cheap, you get a lot of "free" features that you'd have to pay extra for with traditional telcos and with mine (Lingo) I get free calling to Canada and Western Europe. I think it's a great deal if you already have a high-speed internet connection. I don't even have a regular phone line.

Agreed.

From all the stats that I see tossed around, the triathlon dempgraphic is a marketers dream - particularly online marketers. At least college edcucated. Way higher the average income. Big time online usage. Big spenders on triathlon specific gear and other luxury items.
