But Jalabert used to be a decent athlete of some sort...and just took 12th overall in Nice, with a 1.07 swim split, 4.45 bike split (and major nutrition issues apparently), and a 3.13 run split, for a 9.14 total on a hilly course, and a hot day.
Of course, he cannot kick Chuck Norris' ass nor can he benched pressed 300lbs
word here was that he was looking for a top 10. glad he had a great race. The weather has been treadful for the last 3 weeks thru out France. It has been really difficult to train. Then Saturday we get hit with real summer weather and jellyfish!
Kudos to Jalabert! I always liked how he raced as a cyclist. I hope he continues to improve. He is good for the sport.
Gotta freaking love JA JA!
what do you mean by major nutrition issues. I'm always curious when I read this in people's race reports. I could understand a relative newb having problems, but a guy who has trained his whole life, a former TdF rider and multiple IM finisher having nutrition problems just seems bogus.
Do you know what happened to Kai Hundertmarck as he was listed to start as well? That would have been fun to see him and Jalabert in the same race.
Hey, for fans of his, like me, it's even better than Lance or Tiger. Thanks for the report.

It doesn't really matter what Phil is saying, the music of his voice is the appropriate soundtrack for a bicycle race. HTupolev
must be bogus since you say so...but people that were actually there said that he had to stop several times in the first 60mi to vomit on the side of the road...
funny thing is that jurgen zack had stomach issues in one of his last hawaii...which was his what? 50th Ironman? must be bogus...
Also, I don't remember how many times jaja had to ride after drinking half a gallon of salt water...
but it must be bogus ;-)
go show him how it's done next time ;-)
Only Michael had a faster bike split. Funny thing is, I told Michael three weeks ago at the 70.3 in Rapperswil that he should ride conservatively for his first attempt at Ironman, which he acknowledged and said that he planned on a 2.50 run. Guess he got a little bit too excited behind the lead motorcycles on the bike then :-)
JaJa... Impressive. That guy seems cool. You gotta admire his love of the sport and the bike.

Michael Aigroz. Finished sixth overall, with the best swim and bike splits.
Yeah but can Jalabert break par?
