Planning on bundling up in T1. Thanks to all for the advice you've all shared. Good luck… Since I don't know how to swim, I'd be fine if they make it a Du with those 7ft waves predicted!

Don't say that. If it's a Du, you ain't an ironman.

If it's a Du Lionel Sanders will win by an even larger margin.

I imagine that the 7foot waves would be further out in the gulf. The NNW wind would be offshore so it wouldn't get too rough until you get about a half a mile or so out and at that I would expect it to be rolling.

Good luck everyone! Say hi to Finman and T3 if you see them (I think they were at IMFL).

Cheers!

That's about right, 3 here. Coffee and breakfast down. A little dark, but water looks calm, those smart locals seem to know they're stuff.

I see waves. I hope they don't cancel the swim. Good luck.

The swim was cancelled because of rip currents. Time trial start at 8:00.

Unfortunate for my partner, whom I'm here supporting, since the swim is his strength.

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
Which is probably why I was registering 59.67mi as I rolled into T2.

I'm number 2970 and they are going numerically. I will be very lucky to start by 10:00 am. Since the older folks are the higher numbers, there will be a problem for some making the bike cut-off. Sunset Is before 6:00 pm.

Yep, that's my concern too. My partner's number is over 3000, and the bike is his weakness. According to the Athlete's Guide, IIRC, the cutoff is 5:30. The change in format will probably cost him at least an hour and a half.

Last year, IMFL was my first IM. I was panicked thinking they would cancel the swim….and I had come to the conclusion that if they did, I wouldn't race. I hate this for the first timers.

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully they will be lenient and he will be able to finish.

Not quite. But if there was ever a race where all the other pros know they are racing for runner-up at the 00:00:00 point of the race...THIS is it!!

Yeah, just saw that on my FB feed. WTG Fraussie!

It may change because of the TT start, but he's looking damned good for a KQ at this point.
