Good luck athletes! It would be a great day as long as you don't get the "2013 swim conditions"

Once you got past those breakers near the beach, it was quite smooth. Just dive under the waves going out, and body surf them coming back. I'll take that over 4 ft swells all the way out to the turn buoys.

My first IM also. I was signed up last year but had colon surgery in August so that put an end to it. I've done a lot of training and a lot of races over the past year, have been injury free, really excited about the adventure. Just signed up for IM Chattanooga.

Will be there as a volunteer again to get that spot for 2015. Will taking your bikes on Friday
and stripping ya wetsuit off on Saturday.......then go hang out with Sam Adams :)
2015 will be #8
I will say this out of all my IM finishes, Florida roads are sweet. Last year I bet it was 106+
miles out of 112 that were smooth. No bumpy roads to kill your butt cheeks.
Enjoy your ride and race

Just checked the ocean water temp- 83F today in PCB...
Here's hoping for a precipitous drop over the next 4 weeks....

Would love to see it be 78 and non wetsuit legal but it won't ever happen with the WTC's swim-safety-thermometer that always reflects temps below 78.

A bit cynical, Bry-
but you're probably right.
Drowning deaths will do that to an organization trying to protect their brand...

A bit yes. And I get it. I just wish that the temp was reported honestly. I've seen way too many instances where the water temp magically shot down right at the time that it was taken.
Overheating in a wetsuit is also dangerous. But clearly not on the same level as drowning.

They didn't do it at Chattanooga. Said it was 77 the day before, said it was 77 race day. No wetsuits. Thought for sure they would fudge it.

Water felt great.

I've done the race the last seven years and it has always been wetsuit legal.

True-
this'll be IMFL #5 for me, starting in 2004 and every couple years since. Every year, the water temp dropped enough (legitimately, if my toes work as a thermometer...and they do) prior to race day to make it wetsuit legal. Still, I always bring my swim skin, just in case...

My wife and I will both be in the T2 change tents. I'm assuming she'll be in the women's. And none of you better piss on me.
I'm beginning to think that we are much more fucked than I thought.

I did it last year but don't remember a tough swim other than day or 2 before.

Weather looks fantastic... though 10-22 at least!
First time at IMFL 30-34. How does the run look shade wise? is there any at all?

There is SOME shade, but not prevalent...a few breaks from trees in the residential streets, but more than 50% in the sun...If you're slow enough (like me), it becomes less of a problem over time... :)

I'm probably 75% likely to toe the line... Not my first IM, but carrying too much body mass and no running to speak of. Good news is I just did the Rocketman International+ in Orlando last weekend, and had no injuries or issues (other than total heat induced meltdown on the run/walk). Finished though, and PCB looks to be about 6-8 degrees cooler on race day than Titusville this past weekend (good for me).
Swim was non-wetsuit at Rocketman, and I had a PR for an Oly swim (beating 40% of my AG, a big change for me), and cycling feeling good. Just no running to speak of, and not nearly enough long stuff... lots of consistency on the bike trainer, and an FTP bumping on 260 watts, but not enough long training... Going to be a long day for me, but will work to have a smile on as much as possible!
Looking forward to seeing everyone there (also hoping the swim is calmer than last year)...
