IM-Moo; crap in "goodie" bag
I just registered at IM-Wis., got my plastic bag and looked through it...NOTHING! Just a bunch of advertisements, an old crunched up Fig Newton, and tiny towel. I know this is not the purpose of the $400, but simply in comparison of other IMNA events, and IM-WIS past years, this is squat! I guess the addition of FORD will put a lot a fancy cars in the expo area, but they didn't spend a penny on promo in the bags.

the bags last year were nice! Canvas blue, red, black, and white bags with the IMWI on one side. Can you tell me if they have endurolytes at the expo? I am all out and so is my local shop. Crap!

We didn't even get the Newton last year.

Edit

Ahoodlum is correct that the bags themselves were nice. Nothing in 'em, though.

I didn't notice them at the expo, they might, however at Machinery Row Bikes (100 yds from expo) they have a good supply, both pill and powder.

Last year they also gave out a nice license plate frame. I guess the FORD employee discount means discounting IM goodies.

But in Canada, you get the cool finisher's hat and the rubber band. At Madison, it's just the usual ugly finisher's t-shirt.

At the Grand Columbian you get the hat, the Brooks technical t, the fantastic Tri-sports.com bottle, medicine bag etc. Not mention salmon, fresh squeezed apple juice etc.

An actual full bag of breakfast muslix pita's, a baseball style tshirt, powerbar, powergel....and the post race food was amazing as well. Anoth full bag of pita's, pizza, jerky, lots of fruit, 2 kinds of bag of peanuts......All for $60 CAN. I was quite impressed.

Do you mean auto show?

Pretty much the same as it ever was with the addition of several cars...including the new GT, very nice.

Sadly not much in the way of bikes at all. I was there pretty early so maybe they just hadn't set up yet but most alot of stuff had to do with nutrition. I think Accelerade, Ininti, gatoraide, amino vital, power bar and probably a couple others had booths with drinks.

Come to think of it I don't think I saw and bike bootsh set up yet.

I did see Power Cranks though.

Did anyone see that FORD (Blazer?) full of water bottles? Yeah they want us to guess how many water bottles are in there? Any thoughts?

It's gotta be close to a thousand?

Cervelo has been set up since at least yesterday. They are right next to the Inside Out Sports mechanics.

I'm sorry, but don't you get a backpack at the finish line with a headsweats hat, towel, and a dri fit shirt inside it? That's almost $70 worth of schwag. That's what was given away at Ironman Arizona. I hate complainers.

Also don't you get two dinners, two dvd's and 4000 volunteers working for you on sunday? Sounds like you're getting screwed.

I'm guessing way more than 1000.

Ford Exploder volume is roughly 83 Cubic feet or 143424 cubic inches. The bottles are 20 oz I think and are thus appr 36 cubic inches each. So roughly 3984 bottles. Now the guessing part...roughly 25% actual fill rate accounting for gaps between bottles etc 2988.

That's my final answer.

I'm considering Grand Columbian for next year (didn't sign up for IMC next year so need to decide between Grand Columbian and Silverman). How's the race organization?

I don't have a problem with them doing away with the "goody bags". What bugs me about it is the race guide mentioning the goody bags of sponsor giveaways. Either have a goody bag with something in it or don't feature it in the Athlete Information guide.
