How many of these beauties will sell?
so how many of these will sell at $ 2,500.00 (US) a pop?

http://www.trisports.com/ova9jeae.html

i like the line at the bottom: "no discounts can be applied to this product." (i.e., 'if you have to ask for a discount, these aren't for you.'). and then there are the features, the first of which is: "limited edition bar, custom fit to your exact specifications."

ok, but then: "extension width fixed at 100 mm" & "extension angle fixed at 0 degrees" call me strange, but this doesn't exactly sound 'custom fit to your exact specifications'...

Where would you want to swim ?

Seems as though "If you make it they will come..." But $2500.00 for bars?!? What next 2000.00 wheels? Oh yeah we already have those...

They look completely impractical for training with that drop, would need very deep pockets.

I hope they like their elbows really close together. The pics show them all the way apart, and thats only an inch or 2 apart.

Especially if you're passing them on a bike set up that costs less than $2500 altogether.

The moto can be, "Buy the bars and we will give you the Bike for free"

I won't be buying any. I'd seriously doubt if they're any more aero than my Vision Tech bar and clip-ons.

Envy?!

If I had to choose between being rich or fast I'd take rich.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time like tears in rain.

I was looking at that webpage lastnight too. I thought it just looked really funny to have all of the oval concepts setups between $200-$600, then right next to that is the $2500 aerobar. I found myself laughing out loud.

Hardly. You don't have to be rich to waste a lot of money on something.

Actually I like the fact that they have that drop. What's with all the flat base bars these days?

I don't see where you could mount your Jetstream waterbottle or bento box. Although lots of surface area to tape Powergel packets to the bars.

Exactly. Flat bars = you are a sail when not aero. Even if just 5% of the time, why have a beach cruiser position when not on the bars? I've "dropped" my Hed carbon bar by removing spacers and then taking the armpads up with extra spacers. Voila, a reasonable position when on the hoods (i.e., for climbing, but even more so for descending with hands on the brakes).

I'm in the wonderful position of having a base bar with drop (old Mavic TT cowhorns) and a road stem that's already bottomed out... The clips I have are old Profile Split Seconds, and from the center of the base bar to the pad surface is about 1.75"... Wanting to get lower in front... Thinking my only option is to stay with the Mavics and go with the Oval 710 clips. Might buy me another .5" in the aero position.

You must be kidding - I realize that many triathletes will buy anything and have lots of disposable income (I'm a bullseye demographic here), but this is seriously pushing the envelope.

Now a set of these and a pair of Z9 wheels: $6,500 and you still need a bike ...

Give it a year. This design is bound to get cheaper (and copied too).

Thanks for posting this. I ordered a Vision Tech base bar and clip-on last night. This is good for my buyer's remorse. And about a tenth the cost of the bars we're talking about here.

The irony of these bars is that they are so expensive that the majority of riders using them will not have paid a dime to do so.

They will ALL sell. Every single one of them at full price.

I never thought anyone would buy one of those freakin' huge International pickup trucks that make the Hummer look like a roller skate by comparison.

http://www.internationaldelivers.com/...out/xtfamily/cxt.asp

Then my neighbor in my crappy little townhouse row purchases one. I'm throughly convinced the truck costs more than his house. The damn thing is so huge it blocks out the sun.

That's why I'm convinced I will see that handlebar sitting on a Colnago attached to a roof rack mounted to the top of a Ferrari.

Don't fool yourself thinking that people are really not stupid, because most likely, they are.
