Hot Thread???
Just tryin to figure out what criteria is used to determine which threads get the 'hot thread' icon?

I see a thread with thousands of views and over 20 replies and it's NOT hot. Then I see a thread with a couple hundred views and 15 or so replies....yep it's 'hot'.

I'm perplexed. Help me understand.

It means the thread has new posts which you have not read yet. You've read some of the posts, but new posts have since been posted, and the forum is letting you know.

The "hot" thread icon is based on a time-lapse between the past few posts. So if a bunch of people all post quickly to a thread, it gets labeled as hot. It's fairly useless. I don't even really know why we keep the icons. I think because I can't get rid of the "hot" thread icon without also getting rid of the read/unread posts icons for threads.

Not sure why, but the bluntness of this strikes me a really funny.
