In honor of the guys riding at the Giro, we hit the gravel for a few K's on our ride last night. The only way to close this nice loop where we ride regularly is to use a rutted gravel ad dirt road. It's not bad once you get in the groove. Helps to push a slightly bigger gear. I recall Steve Bauer saying years ago, that this was the best way to ride the rough stuff, such as the cobbles at Paris-Roubaix or in Flanders. However, I can't imagine how hard it must have been today on the Finestre climb - that must have been a killer!
