Help on Stem and Spacers on Andean
I just bought the Andean, some people reached out to help me do some initial fitting. I was just tinkering around with the bike and trying to adjust the bike stem height and I ran into a problem and wanted to know if any of you knew what to do. I searched on google how to adjust the spacers of the Andean and looked through the forum and found nothing. The problem is, when I took out the 2x10mm spacers, it dropped the handlebar so the original headset no longer fits on the stem. There are two pieces (for some reason I don’t know how to add pictures but I will try after). The bike came with plugs (i think that’s their purpose) so i am not sure if i’m supposed to use those.

Update: cant add images for some reason so heres the Google Drive Link

Update 2: I think I found a piece that fell down the steerer so I am going to fish it out.

It sounds like you let the bottom of the compression plug fall down into the steer tube. You're going to need to get that out.

The Andean uses a "normal" stem, headset, and spacer system, so all adjustments are as they would be for any other bike with a threadless style front end. When you pull spacers out from below, you will need to replace them on top or cut the steer tube down. Check out this vid for a starter course on this...

thank you for the feedback, so i fished out the extra component. all fixed. problem is, i’m not sure if i want to keep the handlebar that low so i don’t want to cut anything yet. i’m gonna year out a bunch of different heights first. honestly just need to get fitted so i know exactly what to do because this whole trial and error thing is harder than ever haha

Yeah, definitely don't cut anything until you're sure! If you get some standard round 1" steer tube spacers, you can stack them on top of the stem and ride with those in place until you are absolutely sure about your stack height. Being able to do this is one of the nice features of the Andean design.
