Gravel Bike Purchase
I was able to borrow a Jamis Renegade this past weekend. I made it a point to ride everything, having the 40c tires on I could stay stable and accelerate up washout hills and the tarmac it felt so snappy!
So now I'm at LBS looking for gravel bike. I would go with the Renegade but they only have the DuraAce Pro model left (17.9lbs) and it would take too much from my TT budget. The next bike was the Diamond Back Haanjo, 19lb carbon with some decent HED wheels Ultegra.
Anyone have a Jamis or DB gravel bike? Or just a briefing on what to look for...btw budget is $2k

Just a barely relevant datapoint on the Haanjo -- just last month a guy completed a tour around the perimeter of the ConUS on a Haanjo, with no issues beyond tires and a brake (if I remember right). 11K miles in 6 months, in all kinds of weather and roads.

I had the 2015 Haanjo and enjoyed it long enough to know I wanted something racier. The problem with the current generation is they are weirdly short in reach and have a pretty high standover. The standover thing probably doesn't matter, but you may end up with a pretty long stem. The size 59 Haanjo is almost 20 mm shorter reach than my current 58 CX bikes. I understand a little shorter reach for CX/gravel bikes, but that's kinda crazy.

I have a DB Haanjo Trail (Similar to the Haanjo 4 now). The geometry is tall with a short reach which is fine if you're long legs/short torso. If you're looking for something to race, I'd look elsewhere. If you're looking for something that can be a rigid mountain bike, it's a really nice bike for the price.

I use mine mostly for commuting, getting around urban canyon trails, and riding with some of my slower friends. It's perfect for all those use cases. You should be able to pick up the latest 7C Haanjo for under $1900 (pre-tax) if you can get a discount code.

Thx for all the replies! I just checked at lbs and the "reach" measurement is misleading DB measuring front of seatpost to front of headtube the TT with Renegade is 56.9 vs 56.0 for DB (this is all data for size L 56) btw I'm 6' 33.7" inseam

I would say without doubt Renegade is it But it's almost 1k more( similar components at both Ultegra and weight) and DB touches on CX geometry being higher (,I've never seen a Renegade at CX track) better on trail

I was at my urban bike shop and saw some Masi bikes that looked pretty cool. No idea how they stack up component-wise. But if Ride-on cycles carries them, they should be good.

This shop does flat bar, gravel/cx, mainstream stuff. Not a lot of carbon.

I have had my eye set on the Otso Warkin for a while, just have not pulled the trigger. Its stainless steel not carbon, if your OK with that.

OTSO bikes Waaay Cool! They actually just got the 19's Otso in at the shop. I thought craft brew, beard and flannel also known as low performance But the big draw with steel is the suppleness and in the case of OTSO they also made a rigid tempered steel in rear triangle for response. Like the Jamis though it's out of the price range and the Diamond Back is ordered I will keep you all posted on the whole DB experience.
Looking ahead the OTSO would be the bike to get...
