Gerardmer welcomes the first qualifying race for the world largest triathlon.
Have you ever heard about Wildflower? It’s the world largest triathlon festival, gathering 7500 athletes in a Californian National Park. Called the Woodstock of Triathlons, it’s a mythic race due to the atmosphere and the spirit around the event.
In turn, partly because of habit, the organization team has caught a new label for its Triathlon XL. On June 25th, the XL event will become the first qualifying race for Wildflower 2006, allowing 60 slots for this event. In front of such an opportunity to European triathletes, the organizational team decided to adapt, as soon as this year, its distances to federal norms: 3 km swim, 120 km biking and 30 km running. Taking into consideration the comments of the athletes, these distances are better suited to the profile and the wonderful frame of Vosges.
