My girlfriend and I are taking a long weekend vacation in the Gatlinburg area over labor day weekend. Well, we are actually staying just north of Gatlinburg on Douglas Lake. Obviously there are a ton of trails in Smoky Mountains National Park but which ones are the best for running? I have heard good things about the Alum Cave to Mt Le Conte trail but is this an ideal trail to run on?

Also, are these trails packed during that weekend? I'm an early riser so I can get there at Sunrise but maybe everyone else has the same idea.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
