For the swimmers: this is some endurance!
ERIE, Pa. - Sara McClure was 11 years old in 1993 when she heard about the first woman to complete a swim across Lake Erie. She knew it was something she wanted to do.

So this week, the 23-year-old McClure did just that. It took her 15 hours, two minutes and 19 seconds to complete the 23.7 mile swim on Monday. That's two hours better than Halli Reid's historic swim in 1993.

McClure, of North East, said she trained for several hundred hours for about a year before heading out on the lake on Sunday evening.

"There's a drive in me," McClure told the Erie Times-News. "You don't just swim to stay in shape. It's for the love of the sport."

Alan McClure said he couldn't be more proud of his daughter.

"I'm about as happy right now as I could ever be," he said.

If my calculations are correct, that's 2:23/100m

23.7(mi)*16(100m/mi)=379.2(100m)

15(hrs)*3600(sec/hrs)+2(min)+60(sec/min)+19(sec)=54139 seconds

54139(sec)/379.2(100m)= 142.77 seconds/100m = 2:23 /100m

Wow... I've had swim splits slower than that! I'm impressed.
