Flex In Road Handlebars Issue
I just installed a 44cm Profile Design Lava OS handlebar and this sucker flexes like a rubber band to me.

First question, I assume, that's intentional by some manufacturers, what's the advantage of having flex on the bottom of your drops?

Second question, can anyone recommend a good 44-46cm oversized handlebar, which probably won't flex. I'm 195 pounds and 6'2 or so, and I'm definitely going to pound down on the bars.

I've been very happy with my 44cm Ritchey WCS oversize bars for both road and cyclocross. No decernable flexing even when sprinting. Good weight to price ratio also.

You might have luck with a normal diameter steel bar, it would be th echeaper solution.

Don't know about finding one that wide though.

btw, if you're a big guy going with an ovarsized bar/stem combo, it would be smart not to use a fork with a carbon steerer.
