First Time for Everything

A little help is needed here. I'm a bit embarassed to ask, but...

I need to swap Shimano cassettes between my two sets of wheels. I have the tool that unscrews the nut that holds it on, but it's either really snug or I'm wrenching it the wrong way. Does it have regular or reverse threading? Before you ask, yes, I do have a chain whip, too.

Hmmm. Man, this is tough to explain in writing. Well, often times we put the cassette tool in a vice, slide the wheel down onto the cassette tool which is griped by the vice, then give it a solid, gentle push with your chain whip.

I doubt that helps much.....

Just think that the normal pull of the chain tightens the screw. Meaning that to tighten you have to twist it clockwise. To untighten you need to turn it anti-clockwise.

Thinking it over a bit. How stupid of me to even ask! You wouldn't need chain whip if it loosend the other way because the pawls would hold against the tension. Thanks for the advise though.

Thanks for that. I'll work on my training wheel first, in case I tweak something. Shimano RD-535 - solid as a rock, and feels like a rock when riding on 'em.

Thanks. It came from an email from my sister. She sent a bunch of 'old age' sentiments. I'd show you the rest, but I forgot where I put it. I'm afraid in not too many years, the Easter egg bit will ring true with me. At least with triathlon, you don't have to remember much, just which way to turn at the buoy, what your bike looks like and which shoe goes on what foot. Other than that, just go fast.
